Curtain help
Hi! The pic is my current bedroom. I'm ordering the yellow/black curtains and will have a white duvet cover and gray walls. What's the best way to hang the curtains? I can only use 1 panel per window since the bed comes over too far. And I would like for them the hang straight, not tied back like my current ones. Should I still use a long curtain rod or use one of the short ones that only goes over the one side of the window?

Comments (1)You have a very difficult room to work with here. For the curtains I would definitely choose something with pattern and a color that will "warm up the space" . I would buy longer panels that would go to atleast the top of the baseboard. I would also add a textured bamboo shade in a warm wood tone behind the curtains. By layering the window treatments you can completely hide the window when you don't want to see it without having to mess with the curtains. If you are going to keep all of the furnishings that you have in the room, I would defintely rearrange them. I would try to wall-mount the TV on the wall where the white sofa is now.You could place it on a hinged bracket which would allow you to swing it out for viewing and then push back out of the way when not in use. If cou cannot wall mount it, I still think that I would relocate it here. I would place the white sofa in front of the window (with it's lovely new blinds and curtains) which would supply a better "backdrop" for it than the white wall which it is now blending into. If you could, it would actually be a good idea to lose the white couch altogether, leave the black sofa where it is, and place a low bench or a pair of ottomans facing the black couch thus creating a conversation group while still being able to see over them when watching TV. I would define the seating group with a plush area rug with plenty of warm color that will compliment your new curtains while warming up the white floors. This would add verticality and tie your wallpaper and white cabinet into the decor. Comments (7)What a great room! If you enjoy the general Monochromatic feel of your room I'd go with white or silver (see 'option2' photo) and let your accent pillows do the accenting! The blue hue on the wall actually simplifies your color options. Either pull that color in through a patterned application as mentioned above (see 'option1' photo) or just stick to silver/white. Comments (27)You already have your accent colour as your sofa pillows (log roll pillows). I would take one of them shopping with me to get a rug that has that colour in it. It doesn't need to be a lot of that colour (I love the idea of burgandy rug here...but it might be too much with your monotone scheme). 8 years agolast modified: 8 years agoFind alternate curtains with the colors you like so you can get longer panels. Personally, I'd stay away from the big splashy flowers and go with something a little more subtle. Also, your bed is not a style that will work well with flowery drapes.
Pull the headboard away from the window wall about 6 inches so you have room for 2 panels per window that can hang straight down. Try that so you will not need tie-backs. One panel looks flat and skimpy.

8 years agoIf you can't order them longer you could add an accent strip across the bottom. Some workrooms will do this for you. Or you can get double sided tape for a quick fix from the fabric store.
