Very high bay window! What shall I do?

Comments (7)@Kayla: I love IKEA hacking too! ;) Hiding the game consoles is definitely a possibility; I can't put the speakers in a cabinet though.. It's a deal breaker for the hubs. Invest in a high quality sound system, the speakers have to be out for acoustic reasons. If only I had known that before I agreed so easily.. ;-/ @groveraxle: I love that example! You're probably right about the shelves.. there's already too much going on on that wall! I'll look into wall art instead. ;) And yes! Now I realize that part of what was annoying me was that crazy up down profile. I'll have to try and streamline it as much as possible. Maybe put one of the small rear speakers on the left with a trailing plant on top to hide it; a small end cabinet around the same height on the right for the other speaker and to make room to clear off the top of the console? @Mystic Home: That's lovely!! Using electronics as a plant stand, vase to soften the look of that speaker, putting the speaker in an end cabinet.. genius! That might be the best (and cheapest) way to make everything "disappear". I can always paint it white again when we leave. I'll run it by the hubs and the landlord. Thanks ;)) thank you all keep the ideas coming! ~<3...See MoreIdeas for new apartment please!
Comments (4)Hi joyce_jj_chen, lovely home! Sharing my 2 cents: I think you've got a great living/dining space with lots of potential. The sofas can be moved closer to the TV to make space for dining. While not exactly a matching for your floor plan, this is a possible inspiration: Given the ample amount of reflective materials in your space (floors, mirrors), I'd go for some soft or matte textured furnishings or to balance things out and give the entire space coziness and warmth. Possible inspirations: Here it's the curtains that diffuse light that comes into the apartment, matte dark walls absorb and soften light, while greenery lifts the entire space. The example you've suggested is lovely, all the more so because of a contrast between matte (cabinetry, kitchen island) and shiny (fixtures, kitchen island countertop) and of course lovely warm lighting overhead. (consider using warm lighting instead of cool white?) For dramatic effect, or simply to add more warmth, a large rug is a good idea too: Hope this helps, I'm sure other will have great ideas too....See MoreWhat style rugs will work best? what colours?
Comments (2)Hi there! first I would recommend placing your sofa along the length to elongate your room. Your rug should be large enough so at least the two front legs of your sofa go over it. For low maintenance consider something with a print that will hide stains. For eg in my dining room I have a kilim that can take spills. You could also consider an outdoor rug (which you can wash) or something in a low key fabric like sisal/ jute. The latter will be inexpensive if you need to replace it. If you think that looks plain you can layer a smaller print rug over it to add textures to your room. All the best!...See MoreDeborah Roides Interior Design
