Drape help

My window is 82" tall and I don't know if to buy 84" or 96" long drapes. If it were the 96 I would hang them about 12 inches above the window and then leave like 2 at the bottom. How does that sound? or should I buy 84s and hang them 2" above the window?

Personally, I would go for the 96" drapes as the shorter ones will have to be hung too low and will shorten your room. Aim to hang them half way between the top of the ceiling and top of window frame but I would caution against hanging them more than 8 inches above the top of the window otherwise it'll look odd. Normally 4-6 inches is about right (rule of thumb). It's worth hemming them to get the height right. Also try to extend the curtains about 4 inches beyond the frame width wise to maximize the amount of light coming in. It's a lovely bedroom. They should look great!

I'm not sure what the design world is saying these days but I think the whole "puddling" on the floor thing is out. (although two inches isn't bad) You look like you have tall ceilings so going 12 " above the frame would look okay too but if it were me, I would go with the 84's. Good luck!

I will also suggest the 84" drapes! They will work perfectly.

I really like pale grayish sage with white. Also a cool greenish aqua for a soothing look to the bath. White or gray Corian counter. If it's a low-use bath such as a powder room, white marble would be lovely for the counter. Rug or mat on the floor with a nice pattern to hide spills, dog hair, etc. If you have a window, lovely drapes, custom shade or match-stick blinds would help warm the space. Finally, if you have a bathtub, a custom shower curtain will really dress up the space and add character/warmth. I think if you want to show off the nice wood grain and inlay of the table, go light color on the sofa, even cream like the drapes, or neutral like the carpet, or a shade darker. Then you can add whatever accents you like in pillow colors, accessories which can easily change seasonally or with time and little cost. The sofa(s) are so big that you might not want them making the most design statement in the room, but just providing comfy seating and a big amount of soothing neutral color. It helps to look at your room like its a landscape painting, foreground, midground, background. Sofas would be midground and you don't want them too bright or busy to overpower the other planes in the roomscape. The colors you have now work, but I would go solid with a textured fabric, something soft like a chenille.

Hi. It's looking really good and you've done well with the bookshelves! ! I love the new sofa! I would say just a tad more yellow if your husband can bear it, doesn't have to be solid yellow. I'd add something else on the left shelves (I'd move one shelf of photos to the right hand shelving and swap for some books), maybe a ginger jar if you can get an old one. Maybe a patterned throw or cushion for your wooden chair and a small yellow throw for the bench just draped over the corner. Table idea sounds great. Are you happy with it? I think it's made such a big difference

Hang the drapes high and let them just "kiss" the floor. Don't get 84".

Also, if 96" ends up too long for some reason, just hem them. Even hiring that out is cheap.

Yep, buy the 96", and hang them 12 to 14 inches above the window.

I would personally hang them at the height of the art above your bed which appears to be around the 12" above the window. Hanging them only 2 inches above the window will visually shorten the wall and barely gives room for the brackets to clear above the window. A nice break at the floor with the 2" is very acceptable. This is of course only my opinion... very nice room by the way!

Have the panels hemmed to break at the floor or break no more than 0.5 inch from the floor.

I would prefer floor to ceiling panels.

Purchase the 96" inch drapes and hang them so there is just enough room for your hand (palm facing towards the floor) to fit under the bottom of the curtains. Hope this helps!
