Windows Coverings

My husband and I are into almost a 3 year major renovation project. We are very close to finishing. We have 9 big windows in our living room. There are so many options today other than curtains. We are thinking Bali Wooden Blinds. Any thoughts. The windows are grouped together. Do you thing wooden shades on all would be over kill?

If the windows are throughout a large room, wood blinds may work. If the windows are all/mostly on one high wall, wood blinds may be visually too much. Posting photos would help to know for sure.

Wow lots of windows. That is good and I love the bay window in the room. Floor looks beautiful as well. Is there a solid wall that the bed can go on, like on the wall to the left of the picture? Also I would staple backout to the window with the roman shade and then place a highboy, armoire or large peice of furniture in front that would cover the whole window and no one from the inside will know. You do put a roller blind inside the window pulled down so no one from the outside will know either. This will give you storage and make the room more functional. I would then place a desk in the bay for a great place to sit and write or a comfortable chair with table and lamps to read. Please post pictures of all sides of the room as that would be helpful with suggestions.

If privacy is the issue, get the sliders tinted to about 70%. You'll still get most of the natural light but will have privacy. Now, keep in mind this only works during the day. At night you are exposed. To address this, you may wish to do a floor to ceiling white sheer/linen curtains. The number of folds in the curtain will dictate the amount of visible silhouette at night. Hi Olivia Chng, If you are facing this kind of problems, you could try to install curtains on your bedroom. Normally blinds is not really suitable for bedroom, because blinds cant really fully cover the lighting. Blackout curtains (100% blocking the light) or Dimout curtains (80%-90% blocking the light). Adding curtains to the windows (and even doors) gives you an additional layer of insulation and can even bring down your power bills in the long run.
