Need help with this room. I don't really like the back of the sectional facing the kitchen. What if one curtain is removed, the buffet goes by the window and the sofa is moved where the buffet is? Do not like the beige/tan walls? Would light gray work? Thoughts for fireplace decor?? Sectional is modular so any ideas on the best arrangement would be appreciated. Floor is wood and can't afford to change that out..

How a bout a couple of matching sofa table behind the sofa where it is and a large piece of art instead of the mirror if you face toward the kitchen noone is really seeing the fireplace and IMO it will look a bit odd the sofa tables can be quite thin and the sectional pulled forward a few inches . These pics are of 2 different extra long sofa tables which of course could also work

I think that you need to start moving the sectional around to help determine the best configuration.

You can try moving it close to where the buffet is, and as suggested above - why not try to put the buffet behind the sofa - you will have more space behind it once you move it.

Hi 4evazx, I believe that you had given your designer a good and clear brief of your wants and needs and discussed all details with your designer. Your designer has done a great job as i can see from the floor plan and lighting layout. Trust your instinct and have faith in your designer. The only thing i would recommend is that you get your 12w downlight at 4000k. This is a natural daylight glow and is great in apartments. Do post pictures of your apartment when its done. have the sofa and dining table in the center. Dining table against the back of the sofa either the longer or shorter side. Can shift table to accomodate more people. Extendable table prefered. Push the table and sofa nearer to window to have more walking space. You can have a storage / shoe cabinet against the bomb shelter wall.

Hi, I think your idea works. But it doesn’t have to be full length. You can reduce it wall aligned with Master room wall so this creates a vestibule to somewhat hide the door. The new room you can still divide, at entry some kind of hanging space for new laundry and another door for the room. Hope this helps.

I agree that you could put either a very long, or two sofa tables behind the sofa so that you have something more pleasing to look at besides that back of the sofa.

I would not move the sofa to the wall where the buffet is, unless you started the sofa on the wall and moved into the room. And then add another chair for seating.

Grey is always a nice colour for walls. What tone are the cabinets in the kitchen?

The sectional is large for the space and it doesn't look like there is another placement that could work. I like the concept of the sofa tables visually but it looks like the space is tight to add more furniture even with moving the sofa forward a few inches which will put it very close to the fireplace. I would suggest making the decor on the buffet wall more impactful so the eye is drawn upwards more to that wall than the back of the sofa. I would suggest replacing the mirror with artwork and removing the floor lamp.

The cabinets in the kitchen are brown but I eventually want to paint them cream. Also, someone in my family put the floor lamp in here without me realizing it, so it's definitely going elsewhere. :)
