I would seriously consider replacing the cabinets before putting a new granite countertop on them. The problem is that no one will remove the countertop at a later date if you want to change the cabinets, due to the possibility of breakage. The only choice you will have then is a reface. Adding new doors, drawer fronts, and veneered sides is just a facelift. You could also add new hardwood drawers with undermount cushion close slides, but by the time you do this if will be the same cost as new cabinets now. The cabinets you have now, frameless, particle board sides are notorious for having the hinge screws strip out the particle board they are attached to. Since you can't put a longer screw in them, because the material is only 3/4" of an inch thick you have a problem. You also can't put a wider screw in them because it won't fit through the pre-drilled holes in the hinges.

I understand the look and would possibly compromise by bringing a white and brown striped curtain into play. This would add verticality and tie your wallpaper and white cabinet into the decor. I have stained concrete floors and not only do I love them... but 95% of everyone that walks in the door goes goo goo over them... Well, there was that one guest that waited a half hour before asking "So, when you do you think you'll be able to afford carpet?" .... So, this isn't a great pic, but you can see that we mixed black in and that there's a greenish border... Looking back, I would have done a different color had I given it more thought because it's a lot of work to change stained concrete... but painted concrete can be painted over and over... By the way...The lower level of my house is 1500 sq ft and I vacuum those concrete floors, all of them, in less than 15 minutes... I was 2 x's a year and including stripping the old wax, it only takes me about three hours! This shine when it's done is SO worth the 3 hours ...

Hi everyone, My basement got some water after the recent storms in our area. We had vinyl planks flooring and had to pull all of it out, damaging most of it in the process. We are certainly not looking into putting flooring down again, and we are considering epoxy flooring. I want to ask here your opinions, experience, and pros and cons of polished concrete floors Atlanta. Ideally, we would prefer to do it ourselves as the cost to hire out appears to be astronomical. We saw a company called Everlast Epoxy and wonder if anyone here knows about them and their product. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and opinions.
