How to decorate space in kitchen

Hello

I would love someone with an eye for decor to help with an area in my kitchen. Kitchen fitted over one year ago and this area still blank! Initially I had wanted this area for a 2-seater or 2 occasional chairs but any practical seating I have looked at is too wide and comes too close to the seating area at the island. Now considering a stream-line sideboard with perhaps chair in the corner? Would love that looks as good as the rest of the kitchen and not just fill the space for the sake of it. (area is about 3m long)

Any ideas/advice greatly appreciated.

This is my 3m wall at the dining end - it is the second time I've used this type of wall decor, it makes a real statement!

I think the idea of a little sideboard and the comfy armchair sounds good. There are often moments when cooking, when you are waiting for 10 mins for something to come to the boil, and you need to be in the kitchen! You could sit and relax whilst watching.

A long sideboard and chair could be the answer. Or more units to match the rest of the kitchen, but narrower to fit the space. It looks as if you need somewhere to put the laundry that isn't a cooking/prep space - should you think about what you need for that and would that help you decide what would be best. Regardless, hang that picture or several pictures or an interesting art piece. It's crying out to be a focal point in the room!

Hi, Could you add a pic of the lounge area outside bedrooms? There seem to be too many palettes of colours within furniture from white tv cabinet to dark brown book shelf to light brown dining to black/blue/beige sitting pieces. Tie up sitting by adding few cushions in possibly black/white/blue combo. Extend sitting area of living through the entire span of AC wall. You need a larger rug for this space. Angle dining table between 30 to 45 degrees with long length between detached counter corner to bookshelf end towards lounge. This will add the flow to lounge. Add a table runner along the centre of the long length. You need larger artwork pics or a collection of art pieces on living room wall behind beige sofa. Lounge can have a console and wall with a composition of family picture frames to personalise space. Remove blue artwork in the last pic. Instead, you can add a composition of wall shelves with artefacts on them or wall hooks with hanging artefacts. Rugs, table lamps, floor lamps and few bold decorative pieces will add the required warmth. A round centre table in the living room can be good.

Thanks, lefty47. This is an older home, and just as One Plan guessed it is a soil stack from the upstairs bathroom. You are probably right that the cost of a custom solution may outweigh the benefits. Another idea I had, along the lines of the worktop bin suggested by One Plan, is a recessed spatula and long-handled utensil holder. I found out that Lee Valley sells motorized tv lift kits like the one used in the video above. It would be a matter of getting the contractor to build the box to go on the lift. I'm still a bit hung up on the idea, though it probably falls into your cost-outweighs-benefit category! I may bring this photo around with me when interviewing prospective contractors, just to see how they answer!

Hi yoyo188, that's a very detailed plan! Looks fine with me, except I have a concern regarding the dining area. (The following done with Houzz Sketch function!) Just wondering if some of the guests at the dining table might potentially be facing the shoe rack? Put in a piece of Oak matching your tall standing unit or (white Acrylic matching your existing island) that is the same depth as your unit and runs the length of the wall and put stools underneath, then you have additional seating options, and definitely hang a picture on the wall.

Hi, do you really miss having a comfy place to sit there? If so, have you considered a dining type of bench? Those aren't much deeper than your cabinets. For example: http://www.angelandboho.com/boho-banquettes--chairs-291-c.asp

I would not put a sideboard there. But a chair and a little table could work.

If you don't really need the extra seating, consider just hanging some interesting artwork. Or something like the mural that craftycountess used.

I would agree with Carolina..but if you do need extra seating a built in seat may be an idea,with storage drawers underneath.
