What colour curtain rods for this room?

I obviously can't match the light fitting but what colour curtain rod would you use? I was thinking a matt black (30mm) but maybe a black nickel with some shine?

The curtains I've bought are a pale blue silk linen which will pool.

The other option is to have no visible rod at all, and do a pinch pleat curtain and mount it above the rod. The room has a couple of lovely features already, I don't think the curtain rod should be one of them.

I opened my earlier post to edit the paint name in case you ever want to paint non-tufted, no-nap fabric. Unfortunately, my cat Linguine loves the binging and bonging sounds of the computer when he stands on the keyboard. Not helpful. It disappeared so... here is the name: Simply Spray Fabric Paint for Upholstery. (They have your charcoal gray) It did not make the fabric crunchy, stiff or weird. Nobody wants crunchy, stiff, or weird :-) Again, I would not paint the fabric on your gorgeous bed but I would change the wood color. The black edge and empty white room are the reasons it looks heavy. If you paint the black, I would suggest using an artist brush on the edge that meets the fabric even with fabric covered. House or painter's brushes are too wide for good control in that tight space. They are not as flexible as artists brushes nor as small. The Paris bed I mentioned was gray velvet and soft matte metallic gold wood. Soft, romantic, dreamy and transporting to a world of Princesses and Kings. If you keep the purple, I vote for gold or silver wood but NOT high gloss.

Just wondering what is the current wall color? Looks lavender. I'm not a fan of accent walls in a bedroom. To me a bedroom should be relaxing and varying wall colors seem stimulating by their very nature (think they're great in other rooms though). But if you want to do one, I would do as you suggested, the wall where your headboard is located. Figure out what you want to keep (sounds like the headboard and the red chair are definitely staying), then work around that. I think cool greys are very pretty and a wonderful neutral that work would work well with your headboard and chair. Then you could bring in the other colors you like through bedding and artwork. If storage is an issue, can you get some bins on wheels for beneath your bed? Also can you consolidate all those smaller tables and get one larger table/storage piece in its place? I would check out IKEA if it's in your budget. Also given the size of your bedroom, if possible I would go with simple curtains that are the same color as your walls. Good luck!

What a great room! If you enjoy the general Monochromatic feel of your room I'd go with white or silver (see 'option2' photo) and let your accent pillows do the accenting! The blue hue on the wall actually simplifies your color options. Either pull that color in through a patterned application as mentioned above (see 'option1' photo) or just stick to silver/white. Matching the light fitting would work best and shouldn't be difficult to do - if the rods are metal, you may wish to look at some powdercoat colours available from Dulux to see if they have something in their stock range that will suit. If they are timber, there are painters that can advise you on some specialist paints that may be suitable - all the best!

Matching the trim colour on window frames would be my choice. Let the Chandelier shine. Keep it simple.

I agree with Mel N. It's a relatively closed space and I think with the frames and the light fitting, less is more. An obvious curtain rod would be a step too far I think - pleated curtains on a hidden track would be how I would go.

A pewter rod would look soft and elegant with the pale blue, and would allow the chandelier to remain a beautiful focal point.

Have done this before and found I had too many colours. The white window architraves are lovely. I would go white like the architraves... crisp and clean, and then let your blue silk curtains and light fitting be the focus.

I'd match the curtain rod/s to the picture frames - with the metallic sheen - the chandelier colour would be too dark. To hide the curtain rods seems like it would fit, but it doesn't give the room any flair - bit too buttoned down.

I wouldn't do a rod at all. I'd run the curtains from the ceiling to the floor with a concealed rail. Don't make a feature of what supports the curtain at all.
