Lounge room furniture ideas

So here is our lounge near our entry way. We are adding oak timber beams (floor to ceiling) on either side of lounge to semi close in. Needing ideas on furniture and colour. Couches are staying and wall art is quite a golden papyrus piece from Egypt. Will be adding an entry buffet on wall onnotjersode of hallway, so thinking about that furniture wise too. Was thinking black or white but not sure because of carpet. Furniture will be custom made so ideas welcome please!

Looks like you have a great space there - that black carpet however is very intense. You definitely need an injection of colour into that space! I've added some photos below - hope they help!

With the timber beams and Egyptian art work I'd go for a large tribal/ethnic/Moroccan rug in tones you like. Then pick cushions in similar tones plus a throw. A simple timber coffee table in a round or oval shape would be great. Do you have any travel photos that could be enlarged as art for the walls?

Thanks for your comments, its great to discuss with houzers! You are so right @decoenthusiaste the view is beautiful and one reason why I chose the apartment. the room is longer than it is wide, and I wanted the kitchen/bar to be included in the seating so the attached pic is how I was planning to lay it out. @cdrdesign I can't/change the table, its a gorgeous mahogany piece I had custom made and one I see keeping for some years yet! I dont plan a TV in this room, will put it in another room. This room in for living and entertaining guests. Sorry I dont have layout software, so you will have to make do with my scribbles using powerpoint! Could really do with help on choosing the light fitting in place of the central fan- what would look nice here or should I wait till the furniture gets here to choose the light to match?

For me it has to be this , a love seat that converts into lounge chairs that swivels or a chaise lounge or 2 single beds or a queen size beds ....its perfect for that family area or even as the main sofa in a living room ...... Let me know if you need to order one !

No lah, it's important your hubby has his own relaxation area just like you'd have your lounge area. :) Sometimes we need to have our own spaces. Does your hubby not want the entertainment system to be in the living room? If you're worried about the sight of electronics marring your decor, your ID should be able to come up with clever spaces/tricks to store consoles and hide wires. Here's the arrangement in my home: our tv, soundbar, subwoofer and PS4 are in the living room. Having them in the living room comes in useful for guests if we all want to watch a movie, or if they sometimes want to have a go at the PS4 (I sometimes play too!). In our bedroom, we have a Wi-Fi speaker (that integrates with the sound system in the living room) and a PC with a huge desktop monitor for my hubby's PC games or general computer usage. But all the appliances are not an eyesore at all because they're sleek and my hubby is very neat when it comes to cable management. Anyway, think about your routine and imagine yourselves using the spaces you want to create to get a better idea of how to create them. :)

I would add a large black and white rug over your black carpet and build from there. Can you post a photo of your Egyptan Art?

Thanks but timber beams were architects idea and we love it. This lounge is off a long hallway so will define the area. Think curtains will enclose the space more but a rug is a good idea. We have decided to go with timber furtiture

Definitely a rug in light colours and some forms of greenery. I nice piece of art to focus the eye...

I think you need a combo of chairs and a couch as the photos make it look like a through fare. black is very heavy so I would soften with a fur throw or similar. Focus on texture in your textiles and cushions. Mustard/ gold can look good against black.

If you are changing soft I would go with something withe legs to lighten the look.

Not sure if lounge placement working it closes in the area - a bit waiting room Wood coffee table bespoke sounds good Soft up area by adding layers

Is there going to be a tv on the wall? Looks like antenna outlet? Maybe you should make it into a media room? Just some ideas I found on Pinterest

Definitely a black and white rug. I'd put a music system in and a drinks cabinet in at the end...the lounges aren't pointing the right way to look at movies - you'd be craning your neck. An elegant coffee table in the middle - thinking glass/retro
