White themed bathroom ... How to warm it up?
Comments (8)I really like pale grayish sage with white. Also a cool greenish aqua for a soothing look to the bath. White or gray Corian counter. If it's a low-use bath such as a powder room, white marble would be lovely for the counter. Rug or mat on the floor with a nice pattern to hide spills, dog hair, etc. If you have a window, lovely drapes, custom shade or match-stick blinds would help warm the space. Finally, if you have a bathtub, a custom shower curtain will really dress up the space and add character/warmth. Look at drapes as well as shower curtains on Houzz to get inspiration. https://www.houzz.com/photos/custom-shower-curtain-phbr0lbl-bl~l_43312 Consider the space across from the toilet & hang a piece of art there if possible....See MorePls help, mosaic doesn't match with wall tiles, how can I salvage this
Comments (13)Hi Rubypumps. Unfortunately you have made the common mistake of mixing undertones. I see this a lot as a colour consultant. Mistakes with your hard finishes are the worst kind because they are very costly to change. Right now your walls have a pink undertone and your walls behind the tub and counter are clearly blue grey. Since blue is complementary to pink, it brings out the pink in the tile even more and the clean blue makes the tile look dirty. It may be hard for you to see this, but this is what's happening and this is probably why you don't like your bathroom. Since you chose such a busy mosaic, it has become the boss (and focal point) of the room and I would now keep your other finishes as simple as possible. If you can, down the road, change the beige tile. Because unfortunately, there is no magic colour combination that will make it disappear. Working with what you have, I would most likely go with a more neutral cabinet like Uniboard G21 Viva Walnut. It will help warm up the space. Comments (3)I would use a white canvas roman shade on the window with an outside mount and mount it exactly the same height as the top of the fabric of the shower curtain. Use the same fabric on the shower curtain and do contrasting banding along the bottom of the roman shade and across the middle of the shower curtain at the same height. You can add other colors of banding from that height down to the bottom of the curtain. You can buy sunbrella acrylic fabric in extra wide panels so you don't have seams on the shower curtain. I did one in a cabin that looked like an indian trading blanket. It was fabulous....See MoreHow do you store your shampoo/shower bottles?
Comments (5)I have a recess built into the walls which is great, but not helpful in this situation. We will always default to the easiest method when it comes to daily tasks and the caddie is probably the best solution it you are renting and not allowed to drill the tiles, but it is not as easy to put things in a caddie as it is a shelf. If you can drill the tiles, a shelf will be easier. Be as minimalist as possible with stuff on it as well. There are plenty of other options in cushion storage from storage shops too. Good luck....See MoreJennifer Redfern
