exterior colour ideas

Looking for colour suggestions for this house. The roof has recently been painted in a dark grey/black. Would like to paint over the yellow and change the trim colour on posts, guttering , gate & garage door which is currently Colour bond deep ocean

White aluminium windows cannot be changed. Would like soft colours - perhaps white on posts but not sure on main house colour . No dark colours

My first thought is a light grey on the body of the house. You could add a pop of colour with the front door for something a little different.

Dulux tranquil retreat is a popular soft grey. Or tapestry beige for a warm neutral that would look good with dark roof and white trims.

Since you have white and black windows, fans, doors, gates, you need a light tan beige rather than an off white cream - off white will just look dirty next to the white. Something that goes warm neutral instead of yellow will work well. Tropical can mean lots of different things to different people - pick one accent color - a lagoon type green-blue-green with large leafy palms, and add a sail shade (triangle shaped) in the same tone to the upper deck.

Work with a landscape designer/architect. Likely, some sort of retained, back filled walls will be necessary to create an area large enough to place a table with chairs & umbrella. If you entertain multiple generations, keep your patio to a single level. I would suggest integrating planting areas within the patio area, to introduce color & eventually partial shade. Designing a pergola into this composition would be a nice addition to. Get the blessings of any governing/HOA body that you need approvals from, which your design professional of choice should be able to facilitate for you. Happy Houzzing!

Thank you so much for the suggestions so far - if i paint main body of house in a grey, would I paint garage door and side gate in grey or white as per the trim colour?

I was going to say dark to match roof, not dissimilar to what you have now but without the blue tones... Dulux has a colour visualizer that might be worth having a play with to 'try on' different combinations.

I know you said no dark colours, but I think Dulux 'Stepney' with your dark roof and white trims would look beautiful, it is a middle of the road colour, see it on the dulux colour visualiser app.

Hi julieo11, have you had a look at [this story[(https://www.houzz.com.au/magazine/5-fabulous-fail-safe-exterior-colour-palettes-stsetivw-vs~92335358) on exterior colour suggestions? It might help to give you some ideas on what to do, and what not to do, to make sure you're happy with your colour choices for the long run. Personally I think a pale stone colour would work well with both your new roof and your pavers, so maybe look into earthy palettes and natural neutrals. Good luck!

The blue clashes with roof and the house is overshadowed by rook so I like yellow as makes house pop out from under roof but would definitely do white trim (posts and fascias). I'd be tempted to leave garage and gate colour as not next to roof so colours don't clash but whatever you decide no more black else will prevent your house under that low roofline from popping

I agree with not going dark, the house is already in quite a lot of shadow with the deep & low eaves, so I do think the butter colour actually works quite well in that regard. But it probably is a little dated, use my favourite colour of all time (drumroll!)... Dulux Dieskau. It's a light taupe/warm grey and looks beautiful with a fresh white like Casper White Quarter (which I have used!). The white will keep it fresh and bright and of course tie in with your window frames. Then I would choose a 3rd dark colour that will tie in with your roof just for your guttering and garage door. So fascias, eaves, posts & gate in white.
