I know that is a question... but what you question is about is anyones guess..... having spent a few hours reading the requests for advice I am amazed at how vague a lot of questions are... If you want an intelligent answer.. ask an intelligent question !

Yes you do have to. You have to put aside budgets for - Furniture (e.g sofas, chairs, tables etc.) - Appliances (stove, hood, hob, oven, refrigerator, fans, washing machine, dryer, TV) - Air-conditioning (installation and the aircon itself) - Soft furnishing (throw pillows, rugs, lamps) - Lighting - Fixtures (tiles, built-in cabinets, built-in wardrobes, false ceiling etc.) - Painting - Interior design and construction fees (if you are hiring someone). In my experience, the fixtures, appliances and furniture adds up to the bulk of the cost. I have a 5-room BTO too, without tiles, and it cost about 30,000++, but only because we did not do false ceilings, and lighting, and spent most of our money on the appliances. We also relied heavily on soft furnishings (rugs) and designerish furniture to liven up our space.

My humble advice would be to spend a little thought and design and obviously budget into the bathroom (dont forget to make certain that the flooring in the bathroom is water proofed professionally) and kitchen design. This is usually where most of the budget goes. Next would be to rewire the home. Electrical work is also rather expensive these days so make sure you hire a reputable contractor. Rest of decor you could decide later and see how far your budget goes. Renovating is never an easy process, so be patient and decide on what you want first and then communicate this to your designer. As changes later can be very expensive.

Finding ideas and inspiration for a 30 yr old resale HDB

Hello folks, just got a new place with my wife and we are trying to find out if there are any interesting ideas and thoughts we can use for our newly purchased resale hdb. Really happy with our purchase. Big spaces and all, though the corners and angles make it harder to plan things out. Also comes along with the the corridor/recess area that we have been cracking our brains on how to fully utilize it. We tried our hands on some simple apps to plan out the space. And it looks something like this. Not sure if it will work out . Let us know what you think! Also trying to find out if it is viable to conceeal the sewage pipes for the toilets.
