Interior paint colour suggestions needed

Hi there

My husband and I are wanting to paint the interior of our house in a grey with the bright white skirtings/trims. Because of the narrow hallways and smaller rooms, we are not wanting to go too dark. I have tried 2 sample pots of grey so far and they are throwing off a green (which I am trying to avoid) The house is an older style house near the beach so we are trying for to achieve a Coastal look and not make the house "cold". The floor boards are a natural type colour that I will post a photo of. The boards are a tad whiter (not very much) than what the photo shows. Any input/advice at all would be very much appreciated.

there are some interesting putty grey colours in the knots of your floorboards. I reckon it would be worth holding some paint swatches up to the boards and see if you can find one that ties in with those driftwood tones in the timber . Then order a sample pot in a half or quarter strength version of the matching colour then see how it looks. Otherwise it is so hard to go with colours people have named, as every space has different light. If you are happy with the colour of the floor boards, let them guide your choice and you can't fail (as long as not too dark). :)

I love the floorboards! I think a cool light grey would complement this well.

I recently painted my bedroom using Dulux Silver Tea Set, the ceiling and trim are in Lexicon quarter. It seems to have a purple undertone, but changes a lot with the light.

One refinement on the all white solution: get three distinct whites for walls, ceiling, and trim. While you are considering marine-gloss magenta for the dining room, you will feel less as though you are a prisoner in a stark white box. Benjamin Moore has some lovely, non-stark whites and off whites in their classic whites group. Their historical collection is particularly soothing, including: Concord Ivory Monterey White greys Edgecomb Gray Wickham Gray (very pale) Stonington Gray (a little darker) Revere Pewter (warm) Coventry Gray (neutral) pale yellows Windham Cream Hepplewhite Ivory and plenty of interesting beiges.

HI -- It would have been nice to have a photo of the house to go by . If you do a neutral color with dark accents , that tends to look more high end .

Dulux Old Eagle would be my choice. Modernise the space and will integrate your flooring well. The grey as seen in the curved hub.

I have had same problem and similar colour floors. I bought about 20 sample pots it was a nightmare. If you want light grey go with White exchange or white exchange half strength. If you are after something softer go for Fossil grey, that was my choice it’s a bit warmer.

Try Zircon by Sherwin Williams - it's a fabulous pale grey that really blends itself to whatever is around it.

I would suggest, Taubmans Thin Ice. I would also rethink the trims in white, as this only helps the draw attention to them and close the space visually. Try half strength of the wall colour in gloss to add a little highlight.

I always paint skirting boards same colour as the wall that way they are not “sticking out”
They blend in.

Also worth considering more substantial baseboards to add some architectural detail and raise the eye. I would absolutely paint them bright white.

Just be a little careful with the current trend of "grey" one it will or is already dated and Grey from a Feng Shui & colour psychology point of view can lead to a propensity toward depression. If you and your family members are upbeat and have no issues with this, its not a problem. just useful to know.
