Faux Fire Place Mantel - Height and Width ?

Comments (5)My walk-in is slightly longer (1.60x3.60m) - I only have the design with measurements on paper, but I could look for it this evening, scan it and post it for you if you want. In the meanwhile, have a look at the photos of the finished room. We took advantage of the height and got pull down rails; also, a big shelf above the door and narrow shelves on the side. I wouldn't get a radiator in there, or at least not a classic one - have a look at some towel warmers - their output is normally good enough for a room that size, plus you can use it to hang stuff on it: http://www.nevellidesignerradiators.co.uk/Elvina-Designer-Chrome-Towel-Radiator---Reina/232.htm Lighting, I think the best are directional track lights, e.g: http://www.wayfair.co.uk/Track-Lighting-C1802193.html?itemsperpage=96&sortby=6&curpage=1 Otherwise, just search 'compact walk-ins' in Houzz phots. Comments (3)Wood moves with the temperature - hot/cold etc. Having said that unless you have placed your cabinets right next to a very hot radiator, or in direct sunlight, this should not happen. It also depends on the type of paint they have used - does it stretch with the wood? Any good cabinet maker would know this - I also note that these have been sprayed, and that may be the answer - sprayed paint will not move, whereas painted furniture does give. Do not think I would accept these, and stern words are needed with the supplier and put the ball back in their court. You should have at least one years guarantee with these, so I would ask another supplier what they think....See MoreNeed Help to renovate the Kitchen
Comments (2)Hi Alice, that's a really good question - challenging dilemma with a strong limitation (no hacking!) but I believe workable. Would you consider making changes to the backsplash? Adding some strip lighting will help too. Given the pink checkered floor tiles cannot be changed, I'd favour going for very neutral and clean looking cabinetry - to reduce visual clutter and bring in some harmony. Regardless of colour of finish choice, I prefer cabinetry that's not see-through. How about natural wood finishes: All-white with wood countertops might work as well: I leave it to the professionals to give their advice!...See Morefast_ted
