Love the water feature. How's it work?

I have a Greek pot similar to that in the photo and would love to turn it into a water feature similar to yours. How does it work. Does the water stay inside the pot or trickle down outside? How big is the pump?

Hello Sarah, thanks for the question.

Yes you can turn a terracotta pot into a water feature. You will need to purchase a pump kit and a reservoir kit that is big enough for the litre-age that your pot can hold. Then you need to get a hole drilled in the bottom of your pot for the pipes. You might be able to finds a pump/reservoir kit online that gives instructions on how to do this. The water does trickle over the top, onto those pebbles in the photo. The pebbles are sitting onto of a grate which is on the reservoir. The water goes back into the reservoir and pumped back around. You can check out the outdoor floor tiles like the Scala (Google Snap and Go tile) which are easy to piece additionally on the ground for a new look. ;) I saw another brand here, http://list.qoo10.sg/item/OUTDOOR-TIMBER-FLOOR-TILE-SINGAPORE-SELLER-100-AUTHENTIC-BEAUTIFUL/482453309 (not sure where this brand is from but they all work the same). They even have faux grass, stones as well as timber. Definitely easy to DIY, and you can combine different surfaces together if you want (stones and wood combo for example).

Just wondering what is the current wall color? Looks lavender. I'm not a fan of accent walls in a bedroom. To me a bedroom should be relaxing and varying wall colors seem stimulating by their very nature (think they're great in other rooms though). But if you want to do one, I would do as you suggested, the wall where your headboard is located. Figure out what you want to keep (sounds like the headboard and the red chair are definitely staying), then work around that. I think cool greys are very pretty and a wonderful neutral that work would work well with your headboard and chair. Then you could bring in the other colors you like through bedding and artwork. If storage is an issue, can you get some bins on wheels for beneath your bed? Also can you consolidate all those smaller tables and get one larger table/storage piece in its place? I would check out IKEA if it's in your budget. Also given the size of your bedroom, if possible I would go with simple curtains that are the same color as your walls. Good luck!

you painted that? it's stunning! you can do a lot with just a rug. I have 2 toddlers 2.5 yrs old and 19 months old. and I used a low pile indoor/outdoor rug from Walmart. it was like 40$ for a 5x8. it was soooooo easy to clean even when it was blackberry stains! if you really don't want a to buy a rug there are a ton of DIY area rugs on pintrest where you take a cloth and tape it to a non slip pad, then toss it in the wash! brilliant right? you can definitely use 2 big pillows, the have a mustardy/yellow one at ikea (you can wash the covers and switch them too) and maybe a couple small accent pillows. but LOVING the painting...and I wish it was mine..K bye lol! :)

Hi Luke. My Dad would ve rolling in his grave at the thought, lol. We are big leaf tea drinkers inmour family and the rule always was (and is): only rinse out with water. The tanins which stain as re your pot's seasoning and should never be removed. Not sure how OH&S friendly that is, but I can never clean inside the pot for that reason. Having a cuppa as I type...
