wall colour for living room

Hi all,
Would like some suggestions regarding the wall colour on either side of the white panel. ( brown wall in the picture ) I have high ceilings and get a great amount of light. Was thinking should I go dark with deep navy, but not sure. Or should I stick to safe colours? Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you!

Photos didn't attach. Mint is a horrible colour (IMHO) and I have it in spades in my rental. I've ignored it and accented the way I want. It seems to have calmed down since I started using bold colours like red (rugs) and orange (painted cafe street scene). The light in my place is quite warm...so I've been having fun by ignoring the mint. Colours like burnt sienna and many forms of orange seem to work well with mint. Photos would help.
