What is the safest tile for my bathroom floor?

I’ve been wanting to do my bathroom for some time now but I just haven’t decided what types of tile should I used. What is the safest tile for my bathroom floor?

A through body porcelain is best, followed by ceramic. I wouldn't use natural stone in a wet area, particularly marble or travertine.

Stay away from smooth surfaced tiles and look for a tile with a lightly textured surface that will give you grip. Some ceramic and porcelain tiles are actually classified as non-slip. Many tiles have an R-rating which is an anti-slip grading. The R-rating goes from 9 to 13. The higher the number, the better the slip resistance. The most slip resistant tiles would have a rating of between 11 and 13, which is the grading required for tiles used in public pool surrounds.

Also, even though a tile is slip resistant, it can still be slippery if the surface has a lot of water on it. A bathmat or rug to step onto from tub/shower will blot up the excess drips before you step on your tile floor.

Well, there are basically 2 ways: Straight and diagonally. This is assuming all floor tiles are the same size and square, of course. If you have a rectangle, then you already have more choice - horizontally or vertically. There are some mix and match sold as sets or created by the person buying them that make the options virtually endless. Heck, you could have chevron floors. You can make a tile "rug" in an area. You can make stripes with a different contrasting tile. You could lay them like parquet floors. You can add little glass tiles in the corners. If you are working with rectangles and/or mixed shapes, the sky is the limit.

Marble are both non-porous thus it would cause etching and corrosion. Besides that, marble are high maintenance materials. Marble requires proper care and maintenance. Acid should never be used on marble as it shall loose its shine. Marble should be regularly polished over a period of time to give it a new look. If proper precautions are not taken the marble becomes yellowish in colour. Italian marble is usually very soft and prone to cracks. Proper resins have to be used to make the surface strong and solid and avoid further cracks. Proper sealants should be used in marble flooring as the marble is highly porous and prone to staining. It absorbs stains very quickly especially kitchen stains hence are not appropriate for kitchen counter tops. In the long run, wooden looking tiles (made of porcelain or ceramic) would be more practical. You can also consider marble looking quartz. You may check out the D & L series of iQuartz range. Even if a bathroom is art deco it can still be clean. There are some amazing designs that comprise your minimalist aspirations whilst still reflecting art deco themes. The difference is that one is more "flexible"" than the other... It boils down to how daring you want to be... (and tiles are expensive to buy and replace)

if you lighten the cabinets etc, then the stone will appear more prominent. if that is what you want, that is fine. I sensed that you did not like the current counter. I would contact a marble/granite installer to see if they think that the cracks can be filled and polished out. it is pretty common to do this on new installations if it is feasible. they may try to charge you as as much as you would spend on a fabricating a counter out of a new slab if they did not do the original installation.

Porcelain non slip tiles. They are highly water resistant. A few years ago I had my bathrooms and front hallway renovated and chose italian porcelain wood look tile by Energie Ker for the floors. They are easy to clean and look as good as the day of installation.
