Fireplace Paint color and Finish?

What color and finish is the fireplace painted? Having a hard time with black being too flat. In addition what is the width build on the the fireplace?

Hi this is a shiplap fireplace painted in the color Tricorn Black by Sherwin Williams in a satin finish. Hope that helps!!

Thank you. I was worried about the wood panels above the fireplace. Ours is gas /vented. Have you had any issues with burning?

One refinement on the all white solution: get three distinct whites for walls, ceiling, and trim. While you are considering marine-gloss magenta for the dining room, you will feel less as though you are a prisoner in a stark white box. Benjamin Moore has some lovely, non-stark whites and off whites in their classic whites group. Their historical collection is particularly soothing, including: Concord Ivory Monterey White greys Edgecomb Gray Wickham Gray (very pale) Stonington Gray (a little darker) Revere Pewter (warm) Coventry Gray (neutral) pale yellows Windham Cream Hepplewhite Ivory and plenty of interesting beiges.

If the wood is raw, that would mean it has no stain, paint or sealer on it, in which case you would only need to sand the two years worth of use it has. If all dirt, grease, etc isn't off the piece before you whitewash it, this will show in the new finish. Sand it well, don't miss any areas, don't take any shortcuts. Then get some white stain, follow the instructions on the can, and finish with several coats of polyurethane. I find I get the very best results by using Minwax products.

Your second photo brings me right to the stairwell scene in Hitchcock's "Vertigo," although I realize I'm looking up, not down. It's really rather wonderful. I'm just wondering, looking to the upper left in particular, if it's been recently checked out by a structural engineer. As for paint, I'll be interested to see what others say. For me, who doesn't do a lot of white, I think I actually would stay with a white here. A muddy green might be nice as well, but you'd need to incorporate a bit of lighting -- perhaps uplighting along the beams unseen from below, with something amazing hanging from that cool, crazy peak you have. Hello there :) Nice design by the way. Perhaps you can: 1. Change the door panels only. Keep the existing shape & the cupboards, the carpenter can 'update' the doors with different handles too (like image above). 2. Spray paint is more $$$ but I think it is longer lasting. 3. Laminated is less $$ but as we all know it chips & eventually the laminate comes out (wear & tear). 4. Unless you want the inside of the cabinet to be changed from existing white to a different colour, then the carpenter have to dismantle everything & redo. So more $$$$ Hope this helps & Happy shopping!
