shelf above cooktop

I like the idea of having shelf above cooktop. How functional it is? Doesn’t cooking residues stick on the shelf n exhaust fan build up fall on the things on the shelf? Just curious how convenient and useful it is vs looks!

Hi Few points: 1. It's not an independent residential apartment. It is a flat in a 25storey block 2. I have attached the floor plan for reference. The entrance is not too huge. 3. It's good to know that you guys have liked the Bathroom & kitchen design. The tiling work is in progress and it has come out well. I will take few snaps and post 4. When I say resort look - I understand and mean a simplistic natural looking design. More towards wood, nature, green, matt finish etc... Hope i am not confusing anyone here 5. Do you think the bathroom & kitchen design gels with what I mean by resort look. 6. The foyer area is a small (not too big) entrance. It's like a passage as you can see in the pics I posted earlier. When you enter you don't see the entire living room rather you see the wall (kitchen wall), where we intend to keep our dining table. Some thoughts on designing that wall is also requested Thanks!

Rock on Great space. Cretins gone, solar sheeting on windows they can see out but no one can see in. light is great. build toy box along wall under windows all the way across. hydro-lick lifts in both sides of toy box lid. cover and make seat, single books shelf at the back. cool chair fill with bright colored pillows guessing it is a boy wall size world colored sticker globe left hand side move lego building station under globe move shelves and cube thing to other wall paint all the same color one shelf on each side. above sticker abc's and 123's then child's name leaving enough room for other kids if you have them with the age right next to the name. on the angled narrow space a long chalk board. you can tack up his or her art on the globe in the country they would give it to change it out weekly on accident they learn world colors shapes letters numbers and can dream. easy clean up total cost about $250 will last till the 3 grade.

My walk-in is slightly longer (1.60x3.60m) - I only have the design with measurements on paper, but I could look for it this evening, scan it and post it for you if you want. In the meanwhile, have a look at the photos of the finished room. We took advantage of the height and got pull down rails; also, a big shelf above the door and narrow shelves on the side. Hi. It's looking really good and you've done well with the bookshelves! ! I love the new sofa! I would say just a tad more yellow if your husband can bear it, doesn't have to be solid yellow. I'd add something else on the left shelves (I'd move one shelf of photos to the right hand shelving and swap for some books), maybe a ginger jar if you can get an old one. Maybe a patterned throw or cushion for your wooden chair and a small yellow throw for the bench just draped over the corner. Table idea sounds great. Are you happy with it? I think it's made such a big difference
