curtain rug help with teen room redo
My daughter has picked out new bedding and some samples for wallpaper on an accent wall(the wall behind her bed). We are now trying to decide what color(or small pattern) to use for curtains and rug, floors are wood. The other walls are white and her furniture is white. i'm leaning towards some sort of small pattern for her curtains, maybe in the blush pink scheme? She doens't love oriental rug patterns, unluess is was just right maybe. Any help?!! Nothing has been installed yet. Pictures are of her current room and then the last few pictures are our ideas. Thanks!

I would move the bed to face the window

Comments (1)You have a very difficult room to work with here. For the curtains I would definitely choose something with pattern and a color that will "warm up the space" . I would buy longer panels that would go to atleast the top of the baseboard. I would also add a textured bamboo shade in a warm wood tone behind the curtains. By layering the window treatments you can completely hide the window when you don't want to see it without having to mess with the curtains. If you are going to keep all of the furnishings that you have in the room, I would defintely rearrange them. I would try to wall-mount the TV on the wall where the white sofa is now.You could place it on a hinged bracket which would allow you to swing it out for viewing and then push back out of the way when not in use. If cou cannot wall mount it, I still think that I would relocate it here. I would place the white sofa in front of the window (with it's lovely new blinds and curtains) which would supply a better "backdrop" for it than the white wall which it is now blending into. If you could, it would actually be a good idea to lose the white couch altogether, leave the black sofa where it is, and place a low bench or a pair of ottomans facing the black couch thus creating a conversation group while still being able to see over them when watching TV. I would define the seating group with a plush area rug with plenty of warm color that will compliment your new curtains while warming up the white floors. Comments (11)I opened my earlier post to edit the paint name in case you ever want to paint non-tufted, no-nap fabric. Unfortunately, my cat Linguine loves the binging and bonging sounds of the computer when he stands on the keyboard. Not helpful. It disappeared so... here is the name: Simply Spray Fabric Paint for Upholstery. (They have your charcoal gray) It did not make the fabric crunchy, stiff or weird. Nobody wants crunchy, stiff, or weird :-) Again, I would not paint the fabric on your gorgeous bed but I would change the wood color. The black edge and empty white room are the reasons it looks heavy. If you paint the black, I would suggest using an artist brush on the edge that meets the fabric even with fabric covered. House or painter's brushes are too wide for good control in that tight space. They are not as flexible as artists brushes nor as small. The Paris bed I mentioned was gray velvet and soft matte metallic gold wood. Soft, romantic, dreamy and transporting to a world of Princesses and Kings. Comments (2)Photos didn't attach. Mint is a horrible colour (IMHO) and I have it in spades in my rental. I've ignored it and accented the way I want. It seems to have calmed down since I started using bold colours like red (rugs) and orange (painted cafe street scene). The light in my place is quite warm...so I've been having fun by ignoring the mint. Colours like burnt sienna and many forms of orange seem to work well with mint. Photos would help....See More- PRO

I think the curtains you show could work very well with the paper — the colors and pattern.
For a rug, what is your budget? What size do you need?
My first thought was a white or ivory shag rug. It would be plush and soft, and not compete with the other elements.
It’s barely showing here, but I like the natural woven rug here with that paper, too (but she’ll probably want something softer and thicker):

17 days agoYou might consider doing some deeper green tones around the space and using some pillow shams to incorporate more of the pink and green. You'll see a few images from our portfolio, where we used a lot of greens.
