What paint for my hallway walls and stairs?
What paint colour should I use for my hallway walls and stairs? We are using Amtico Fawn Oak parquet for the floor and adding understairs storage. Any ideas and advice is much appreciate :)

HELP: Small L-shaped kitchen with refuse chute on wall!
Comments (10)Are you saying that cooking next to the chute would gross you out even if its covered? Andd to use it for its intended purpose? In the first picture, it looks like the stove is directly underneath the chute, but I can see in other pics that it is not. I think it is far enough away. If everything is bagged properly, it shouldn't be that bad. You will have to check on local code regarding having the stove next to the window. Code may make your decision for you. People usually just put shorter cabinets above that type of range hood. I would recommend doing so because you need all the storage you can get. The hood--being different from the bank of cabinets--will provide relief to the eye. With cabinets above, it'll still feel balanced. And, as for covering the chute, do you want to cover it and restrict access or do you still need to use it for its intended purpose and just want to camouflage it? To help the room feel pleasant, cheery, and light, I recommend using a glass tile. Even though it's applied to a wall, the translucency still shows and evokes a sense of the adjectives above. I think it would help keep things light. Consider a slightly higher toe-kick underneath the lower cabinets. It helps to create a lighter-footed feeling. You could also consider cabinets that have furniture style feet. for a more open feeling. Your kitchen seems like an ideal room to use modern, lacquered cabinets. I don't know if you like the super-modern look, but I think it could be nice. Maybe just for the uppers. Use a medium-to-light toned wood on the bottom. A limestone floor might be nice. Comments (2)Photos didn't attach. Mint is a horrible colour (IMHO) and I have it in spades in my rental. I've ignored it and accented the way I want. It seems to have calmed down since I started using bold colours like red (rugs) and orange (painted cafe street scene). The light in my place is quite warm...so I've been having fun by ignoring the mint. Colours like burnt sienna and many forms of orange seem to work well with mint. The green (they come in different colours, too, if you'd like to be psychedelic) adds a lively pop of colour to a blah space, and they're designed in easy-to-install tile-style units that have some built-in drainage for minimal maintenance. 3 months agoI used Egyptian Cotton on my hall walls, then changed it to Dulux Goose Down after many years. They both look good. The only colour I hated was Pigeon. It was just too dingy for my dark hallway. I think doing the spindles in a dark grey would look really good something like Downpipe? Here it is with pale grey walls.

- Opportunity to use a contrast in the smaller entrance and carry that colour through into the main hall area with the accessories-wall art, furniture. e.t.c..
- Under the stairs lends for the opportunity to become a design statement (see under stairs image lit wine cellar, with glass features)
- In terms of wall paints:
- Greens as suggested (sage or off-white sage green undertone is stunning),
Baby Blue (image) Borrowed Light by Farrow & Ball or Bare Minimum by Valspar
A cool toned grey (Benjamin Moore - Blue Springs) See the flooring and the darker contrast with the through room :)
- Color Family: Cool, blues, can lean into greys, greens and whites
- Complementary Colors: Peach, pale orange
- Pairs Well With: Most colors
- Mood: Calming, serene
Off white's as suggested: think about the undertone and pigments and how much natural light the space receives during the daytime.
- The opportunity to install an additional x 2 ceiling lights to compliment the black and glass light already featured in a row to create a modern feature and balance the space overall

2 months agobeside wood pattern I think your hallway will be good if the floor has strong pattern, it becomes a center of attention and make the empty space lively, I hope you painted all the door in color that contrast with the wall cause its less inviting people to get in (except the wardrobe door, this door that need to be camouflage with the wall), add hanging lights, mirrors, plants, gold furniture as decoration
