Yes, wonderful question - so many beautiful features from so many eras. I love mid century beach houses, clean lines, timber and stone, a open staircase to a mezzanine bedroom loft, flowing out to a deck of ocean view ... If you can imagine what Mike and Carol Brady's beach house would possibly look like (?) .. this would be my ultimate!

Hi Rachel, This is quite easy to fix. Firstly I would brighten the space up with a white paint such as Nippon Violet Whispers (warm white), this will give you a good base to work from. Then I would replace your table with one that is larger. This table is too small to be useful and is making your entrance feel small. I recommend using teak and keeping this console table simple in design. On the wall I would place artwork - the bigger the better as this will make a dramatic statement. Then add some lighting (table lamp on console table) and decorative items and voila your entrance will be instantly chic! I have mocked up two options for you - one is based on blues, the other pinks, so depending on your preference you can go either way. This is the blue version with hints of tropical This is the pink version. Hi Yen, We have 2 small dogs of our own, in our private home, (our apartment is designed and decorated. Being Interior Designers, we love and have a passion for nice furniture). In saying that, our Lhaso Apso sheds, and the Jack Russel loves toys. The solution, we treat them like our children, and like any regular parent, pull out the vacuum cleaner and pick up keep the toys in an open box (so the Jackie helps himself) in one area. Eventually the ritual becomes part of life, vacuuming and collecting toys every so often. Just like one does for children at home - i guess that's parenting to unconditional, loyal and faithful little souls. Enjoy your cat..... he seems full of pride of "HIS" home.
