Ann Arbor Hills Kitchen Remodel and Sunroom Addition

Our clients came to Meadowlark looking to refresh their home's existing kitchen and add a screened-in porch to the back of their home. Their original kitchen had dark-toned wood cabinetry with dark granite countertops favored in the early 2000s. It was outdated and didn’t fit this couple’s design tastes. While a decent size, it lacked proper storage and had a built-in desk which was unnecessary in the kitchen and rarely used except for being the dumping ground for mail, kids' artwork, and miscellany brought into the home.

Working within the kitchen’s original footprint, Meadowlark’s creative solution involved minimizing the archway into the breakfast nook providing additional space along the back wall for appliances. Removing the adjacent arched entryway from the main hallway and creating an opening near the raised bar seating area, provides an ideal surface area for food prep and becomes a statement wall with open shelving and brass sconces.

Opposite, a striking hood that matches the island in color sits above the 48” Wolf range top and is within easy reach of the paneled Sub-Zero fridge. Opposite this is the island with two built-in and paneled dishwashers and a farmhouse sink.

Mont Surfaces Quartz in polished “Fantastico” not only tops the island and other countertops but runs straight up the backsplash making a remarkable statement.

Although Meadowlark didn't enlarge the layout, the kitchen feels much larger thanks to the extension of the cabinets to the ceiling and the removal of the arched entryway from the main hallway.
