E+J | Terrace

Major Alternations and Additions to Existing Terrace House.

The house underwent major changes while retaining only the structure. The design intends to open up ground floor to get maximum sunlight and ventilation for family and social gatherings. The boundary between indoor and outdoor is blurred so as to have flexibility to extend space and borrow landscape visually.

The building takes on a different vibe as it elevates with lighting when dusk approaches and screens rotate.

The flying canopy and wide steps welcome guests with a sense of openness of space. Visual transparency with folding glass panels allows the entry foyer to become an extension of the living room. Except for the guest room, the rest of the ground floor is a single continuous space without obstruction for maximum ventilation and natural lighting. The layout is customised to allow convenience for daily operation and to host larger gathering without feeling spacial constraints in this 6m width terrace dwelling unit. Colour palette is kept minimal with accent of black for dry kitchen and island feature.

Creams, browns and blue. The attic took in all the action from the sun as shadows are cast into the interior. Owner’s love of blues are added as accents to the overall neutral palette, possibly resonating with the love of blue skies.
