Fatboy Lampshade / Cappie for Edison The Petite
Tip: You can buy readymade lampshades but you could also re-shade an existing one at upholsterers like Kia Meng Trading or Tian Lin Upholstery Service. This is a great idea if your lamps are vintage or an unusual size or shape as you may find it difficult to find a new lampshade that fits correctly.
Get the look: If you fancy yourself a bit of a crafter, you can create your own statement lampshade. This one has been made of old photographs. I once made a lampshade out of old X-rays of my broken ankle when I was living the poor art student life.

Tip: Think about the classic shapes of circles, squares, triangles and lines. They can be rigid and crisp, or they could be softer and organic. You can go with tone-on-tone colours that will match your overall decor, or choose a contrasting colour to really make the artwork stand out. Another route is to use smaller pieces of art to form a geometrically-shaped feature.

We know lots of you love rose-gold and gold-toned metal details in your home, but get ready to swap your allegiance to darker tones like black and bronze. Darker metal tones will help to add definition and ‘weight’ to your interior and bring a more masculine tone.

A hardwood, walnut is great for furniture as it’s long-lasting and sturdy. If the centre of the tree, or the ‘heartwood’ is used, colours will range from a lovely dark chocolate brown to a lighter pale brown with a tinge of grey, red or purple. The outer part of the walnut tree gives a pale yellow-grey timber and can sometimes be close to white.
BOWEN 6 DRAWER DRESSER
Tip: Since the colours of walnut timber are so pretty, don’t stain it, or paint it. Just a clear varnish or oiling will suffice.
Luka Coffee Table, Walnut
Get the look: Adding a walnut sideboard, chair or table is a great way to integrate this trend into your home. Walnut looks particularly good if your interior is mid-century modern or new Scandinavian.
These lights look great hanging over a dining table, or in a cosy corner over an occasional chair.
Tip: This trend is relatively new, so there’s not yet a huge variety to choose from. I’d recommend looking for a vintage pendant like this iconic version by Hans Agne Jakobsson from the ‘60s.
