The bench in the first picture is in front of the entry into the shower- if you actually directed water on yourself it would splash all over the floor and toilet as there is only a partial glass wall- not well thought out.

A detail to consider: If the bench is a built-in that goes down to the floor, there should be a recessed toe-kick or the top should project past the base so it is easier to get up.

Floating benches, for sure, are my clients’ favorite way to go. Here a few samples of some recent ones we’ve done. I typically use the same vanity counter top material on the benches.
