This Modern home sits atop one of Toronto's beautiful ravines. The full basement is equipped with a large home gym, a steam shower, change room, and guest Bathroom, the center of the basement is a games room/Movie and wine cellar. The other end of the full basement features a full guest suite complete with private Ensuite and kitchenette. The 2nd floor makes up the Master Suite, complete with Master bedroom, master dressing room, and a stunning Master Ensuite with a 20 foot long shower with his and hers access from either end. The bungalow style main floor has a kids bedroom wing complete with kids tv/play room and kids powder room at one end, while the center of the house holds the Kitchen/pantry and staircases. The kitchen open concept unfolds into the 2 story high family room or great room featuring stunning views of the ravine, floor to ceiling stone fireplace and a custom bar for entertaining. Times have changed significantly, design and style as well. What once was that forgotten closet has now metamorphosed into a gorgeous showpiece.
This is exactly the case with this custom wine cellar in Tarzana, Los Angeles, California. Sweeping Glass fronts make this wine room visible and noticed from every angle within the main living area in this home. Right off of the main dining room, this custom cellar exudes elegance, adding a modern and contemporary touch to this otherwise traditional style home.
The upper section includes metal wine racking / metal wine racks with triple depth, showcasing each bottle horizontally so that your favorite labels are front and center.
Directly below lies a sweeping high reveal angled display of the most prized vintages, shown off with LED lighting within. This raw oak wine racking melds perfectly with the mixed colors of beiges and browns within the wooden flooring.

Traditionally, when Vintage Cellars works with clients, we recommend that our wine cellars are built with dual paned, thermally insulated glass so that temperature loss and condensation are non existent. This project, however, utilized a single pane glass to keep the minimalist style. Because of this, the recessed cooling system in the back portion of the cellar has been oversized a touch, to ensure that this wine cellar / wine room / wine closet / under the stairs wine cellar / glass wine cellar / custom wine cellar continues to maintain a constant 55 degree temperature and proper relative humidity.

The area is filled with a combination of individual bottle racking, display racks, storage cubes, work surfaces and plinths, all of which are made from solid pine, as well as LED lighting and a wine refrigeration cabinet. The wine storage area can store over 160+ bottles.
Kadlec Architecture + DesignOur clients—philanthropists that split time between Chicago and Naples—embraced a rare opportunity to buy an adjacent unit and experience full-floor city living. With a vision for both intimate and large gatherings and minimal maintenance, we developed simple architectural details that organize the primary living spaces and integrate mechanical, lighting and structural elements. Their growing art collection is set against classic oak paneling, travertine and oak flooring and white lacquer finishes. Seeded glass and metal doors filter natural light into the center of the apartment and reflect city and lake views. The result is an understated yet inviting home.
