Franklin Street Residence: West view, from the backyard.
The west wall has minimal glass upstairs, because of the direct sunlight it receives year-round. There is a sheltered balcony next to the master bedroom, which covers and shades the large glass door downstairs. The clear cedar siding boards run seamlessly down the column to the left, just as they run continuously to the underside of the eaves.
