What Houzz contributors are saying:
7. Step right up Who says platform beds need to lie flat on the ground? This bed actually sits atop Ikea cabinetry that’s received a custom fascia of Douglas fir and leather drawer pulls. Lofting the bed in this manner brings the bed closer to the window and the fresh breeze it provides, but flailing sleepers beware: you’ll want to think twice or add a railing if you tend to toss and turn.
9. Rise aboveThis lofty storage bed is actually not a bed at all! The mattress has been placed atop several sets of Ikea kitchen cabinetry, customised by a professional joiner with Douglas fir cladding to make them into a mix of drawers and empty cabinets, and finished with leather pulls. Not only has this given the bedroom plenty of storage space, it’s also raised the bed to the point where those sleeping in it can easily look out of the clerestory window behind it, to enjoy both the view and the summer breeze.See more Ikea hacks
