Please help me design my barren conference room. .

I own a company where I sell and design custom websites. This is my ugly conference room. The room is 12 by 12 with one door and some windows. Two of the windows look onto the room where our programmers work. No one works in here but it is used for presentations and discussions. Help! It does not represent the creativity that takes place here! I am open to painting, changing window treatments, area rugs, etc. not sure I am able to change ugly overhead lighting!!

Comments (10)Are you saying that cooking next to the chute would gross you out even if its covered? Andd to use it for its intended purpose? In the first picture, it looks like the stove is directly underneath the chute, but I can see in other pics that it is not. I think it is far enough away. If everything is bagged properly, it shouldn't be that bad. You will have to check on local code regarding having the stove next to the window. Code may make your decision for you. People usually just put shorter cabinets above that type of range hood. I would recommend doing so because you need all the storage you can get. The hood--being different from the bank of cabinets--will provide relief to the eye. With cabinets above, it'll still feel balanced. And, as for covering the chute, do you want to cover it and restrict access or do you still need to use it for its intended purpose and just want to camouflage it? To help the room feel pleasant, cheery, and light, I recommend using a glass tile. Even though it's applied to a wall, the translucency still shows and evokes a sense of the adjectives above. I think it would help keep things light. Consider a slightly higher toe-kick underneath the lower cabinets. It helps to create a lighter-footed feeling. You could also consider cabinets that have furniture style feet. for a more open feeling. Your kitchen seems like an ideal room to use modern, lacquered cabinets. I don't know if you like the super-modern look, but I think it could be nice. Maybe just for the uppers. Use a medium-to-light toned wood on the bottom. A limestone floor might be nice. Comments (11)I have to say that well made Roman Shades are not cheap, they are the higher end of the market. Secondly the thing to consider is that they are an all or nothing product, they are either open or closed. What part of the country do you live in? What direction do the windows face, and how often are those doors used? Drapery that can not be moved completely out of the way will get caught in the doors all the time, so while I hate taking out a window for any reason, removing it might make sense as it seems rather redundant. Don't do any type of venetian if this door is used a lot, and if you do, make sure you do an outside mount, allowing for the stack to go above the frame of the doors when they are open. I suggest that you look into Hunter Douglas Polysatin Shutters, they are great on french doors, and the Hunter Douglas Duette Architella Vertiglide is perfect on doors, they also come as a duo light, meaning you can put two blinds into one product - so a sheer and an opaque or semi-opaque product. Comments (13)Hi Rubypumps. Unfortunately you have made the common mistake of mixing undertones. I see this a lot as a colour consultant. Mistakes with your hard finishes are the worst kind because they are very costly to change. Right now your walls have a pink undertone and your walls behind the tub and counter are clearly blue grey. Since blue is complementary to pink, it brings out the pink in the tile even more and the clean blue makes the tile look dirty. It may be hard for you to see this, but this is what's happening and this is probably why you don't like your bathroom. Since you chose such a busy mosaic, it has become the boss (and focal point) of the room and I would now keep your other finishes as simple as possible. If you can, down the road, change the beige tile. Because unfortunately, there is no magic colour combination that will make it disappear. Working with what you have, I would most likely go with a more neutral cabinet like Uniboard G21 Viva Walnut. It will help warm up the space. Comments (7)What a great room! If you enjoy the general Monochromatic feel of your room I'd go with white or silver (see 'option2' photo) and let your accent pillows do the accenting! The blue hue on the wall actually simplifies your color options. Either pull that color in through a patterned application as mentioned above (see 'option1' photo) or just stick to silver/white. 7 years agoThey do not like the white chair either. I think we will stay away from wheels. They were talking about them but I think that is not the way to go. I still nee to do some research and see how to mix I have done an entire house and two outdoor spaces This space puzzles me. This is probably because I had free reign on those other spaces! Going to RH outlet today

7 years agolast modified: 7 years agoStarted looking again. Found this. Not perfect though. And the other three reminded me of the first black chair you liked. But the wooden one is 900 bucks. The blue are a set of four for 1000 bucks so more affordable. The upholstery on the blue is kinda funky though lol. The black one is 245 dollars so wayyyy better than some others

7 years agoLike that last idea. Now we are choosing carpet for the entire two room area. Thinking of layering a rug over whatever wall to wall we choose. Holy wall to wall! I need help in choosing this. This will be in both rooms not just our 12 by 12 conference room

7 years agoThis is a detail of an 11 by 8 foot rug I saw that I thought was attractive. Lots of Browns oranges and blues. What does everyone think.? I have craftsman lamps that have these colors? Too girly or earthy? Want to layer over the wall to wall industrial carpet. The lamps have are square and I guess are some what prairie style with these colors. I was attracted to this rug. 7 years agoSomething like these. Obviously color will depend on rest of room decor. I'd focus on the rest of the decor before deciding on blinds. Like the rug, the carpet, the chairs, receiving the table lol, artwork, etc. THEN paint color and blinds/curtains
