feedback on counter height tables?

17 years agoWe just got one that replaced a regular height table and we like it! (The finish on the table actually had some issues so the store has ordered another one but that was just cosmetic, the style is fine.) The chairs are padded so they are really comfortable. I like being able to pull the chairs over to the island if needed. (We're using the table in the kitchen.)
This is NOT my house, but this is the table and chairs we bought. We have only been in three months (new construction) so this is like night and day! And reminds me of how much we still have to do.....:)

Help with an open plan kitchen, dining and living area...
Comments (19)Hi, Could you add a pic of the lounge area outside bedrooms? There seem to be too many palettes of colours within furniture from white tv cabinet to dark brown book shelf to light brown dining to black/blue/beige sitting pieces. Tie up sitting by adding few cushions in possibly black/white/blue combo. Extend sitting area of living through the entire span of AC wall. You need a larger rug for this space. Angle dining table between 30 to 45 degrees with long length between detached counter corner to bookshelf end towards lounge. This will add the flow to lounge. Add a table runner along the centre of the long length. You need larger artwork pics or a collection of art pieces on living room wall behind beige sofa. Lounge can have a console and wall with a composition of family picture frames to personalise space. Remove blue artwork in the last pic. Instead, you can add a composition of wall shelves with artefacts on them or wall hooks with hanging artefacts. Rugs, table lamps, floor lamps and few bold decorative pieces will add the required warmth. A round centre table in the living room can be good....See MoreLow kitchen island/diner?
Comments (1)Islands are usually designed at counter height so that the cook can also use the island as a part of the prep area of the kitchen. However, you can design your island low if you want. Comments (2)5'2" is 62 inches, and our guide to lighting sizing (http://bit.ly/1cuh1Fj) suggests that 30 to 36 inches above the tabletop (not the floor, however) is a good height if you have 8-foot ceilings. Comments (1)If u have the budget, I would suggest moving the store to the back and have the room next to the toilet, and even making it ensuite so that it is more suitable for elderly/guest use. Having the store at the back of the house will enlarge your storage for food items and even possibility of placing the fridge inside the store. The distance between the two walls is too great to form a good working triangle. I would suggest a n-shape kitchen instead. Cut short the current L-shape and make it into n-shape. U can even have a bar counter adjoining the kitchen counter with the space saved. U can then place the fridge and the pullout pantry in the middle, the hob near to the rear of the house and the sink facing the dining. For more countertop space, consider a flip up table from the kitchen cabinet next to the door accessing the laundry....See Moremarymary147

17 years agoWe just got one. I thought I'd hate it, but I love it. We may get bar chairs instead of stools in the future, though. We *do* have a seperate dining room, so I'm not sure if this would be something I'd consider if I didn't. That said, my three boys ages 6, 4 & 2 love this counter height set!
