Curtains/Drapes Help

My wife and I are finally getting around to decorating after planning our wedding. We're having a tough time finding the right type of window treatments for our windows. We're renting from the owner who installed very nice wooden shades but we think that adding curtains would make the room complete. We've bought and returned multiple curtains that were either too short (we have high ceilings) or just not the right color. And just as a side note: it's hard to tell in the pictures but the wall is painted a very very pale greige color.
What color type of curtain would you put up?
Any advice?

9 years agoInstalling ripple-fold drapery full-height, wall-to-wall would add a clean, contemporary elegance to the room. Ceiling-mount track system on both walls would allow you to "stack" drapery into the corner behind the lamp.

Comments (11)I have to say that well made Roman Shades are not cheap, they are the higher end of the market. Secondly the thing to consider is that they are an all or nothing product, they are either open or closed. What part of the country do you live in? What direction do the windows face, and how often are those doors used? Drapery that can not be moved completely out of the way will get caught in the doors all the time, so while I hate taking out a window for any reason, removing it might make sense as it seems rather redundant. Don't do any type of venetian if this door is used a lot, and if you do, make sure you do an outside mount, allowing for the stack to go above the frame of the doors when they are open. I suggest that you look into Hunter Douglas Polysatin Shutters, they are great on french doors, and the Hunter Douglas Duette Architella Vertiglide is perfect on doors, they also come as a duo light, meaning you can put two blinds into one product - so a sheer and an opaque or semi-opaque product. Comments (27)You already have your accent colour as your sofa pillows (log roll pillows). I would take one of them shopping with me to get a rug that has that colour in it. It doesn't need to be a lot of that colour (I love the idea of burgandy rug here...but it might be too much with your monotone scheme). Add some art with your blue accent from etsy.com
Replace one of the round tables with a small square nesting tables.
Consider painting the white frames black.

9 years agolast modified: 9 years agoYou can order 96 inch drapes online from many sources: World Market, Pottery Barn, Country Curtains, Pier One, etc. And, if you are afraid of harming the walls, rods can often be hung using 3M hooks.
Layer your existing rug on to a larger jute or sisal rug.

I would put 2 color shier curtain tied on a side on both windows

9 years agoThese drapes from Westelm would be perfect! They also come in midnite blue and several lengths. Just make sure that they hang about 1/2" above the floor.
