Everything in the photo is a French antique sourced by Jean and Nathalie Masset from Apt France.
The linens are old bedsheets.

We used your pillows as a jumping-off point to search our area rugs by the color red (http://www.atgstores.com/area-rugs_610.html?option0=optionA=265687|18968~Valu&page=1) and we found some ideas for you. We posted them below, but would remind you that you can swap out your red throws for something else to counterpoint your black furniture and console with something lighter. I would definitely consider an off white colour as this will be a safe, and probably more attractive option with the colours your stated on your bed. However the sheen may not go well with the green and white laminate, if the chandelier go well with the decor of the room then I think going for a sheen finish could easily finish off the room! However if not it could really make your room have two contrasting style schemes. Off white would also look good, but if you like a bit a glam, then a sheen finish is a fantastic option! What other stuff do you have in your room? Is it possible to upload a picture as many 'minds' can make light work lol. We cannot really comment on adding things to brighten it up but I am sure there are designers on Houzz that can help. :)

The color will be fine, but put up samples of the sheen to make sure you're really on board. Among other things, the more sheen, the more obvious any flaws.

Of course ... here we go. Let me know if this helps. Patricia, yes, I understand that the drapes will need to be open. IN my case the curtains are less about Privacy, but more about making the room visually higher & covering windows that are not too attractive. (note 1: the landlord's curtains in the picture have been removed)

these are def soft fabric to gather at top like this....I prefer white cotton ...crisper outdoor look...practical ..more substantial feel better protection sun/wind....you could use sheers ( IKEA.....$5 a SET!) at both ends or where you want movement....painters drop cloths GREAT for everthing
