What colors were used to create the look on the island?

The color is made up of an under coat of a stain and sealer with a paint that is wiped away. You see the stain coming through the paint. The paint is actually gray and there is a tint on the finish coat that makes it brown/black looking.

Not having an island in your kitchen is against the norm these days, and I personally love islands as they're a good sitting space as well as workable when you're cooking up a storm.

Hi Rhonda, i also recently redid my terrace and installed a wet and dry island in my kitchen. As for your floor plan, if you're willing to consider tearing down the maid's room and moving it to the back, it will free up a lot of space for your dry kitchen/dining area. A bit unconventional, but you can also install the island in between the 2 pillars that are in the center. You can then install pot racks or wine glass holders on top of your island. It's a fruitwood stain with gray paint. The finish coat is tinted, that changes the colors each time a layer is added.
