Rug size dilemma

They don't carry 6*9. Only 5*8 or 8*10. Does 5*8 look too small or incorrect from esthetic sense? Please advice.

Comments (27)You already have your accent colour as your sofa pillows (log roll pillows). I would take one of them shopping with me to get a rug that has that colour in it. It doesn't need to be a lot of that colour (I love the idea of burgandy rug here...but it might be too much with your monotone scheme). A full size (double) bed typically sleeps two people comfortably and is fine for occasional overnight guest (not so fine long term). Comments (4)The new look is more white with wooden furniture and straight edges. For living room, clear white table and add more modern modern accessories in metal. The pink needs to be replaced with a brown or a mustard yellow cover(to make it stand out but yet within a warm tone). Beige sofa can have 2 cushions on each corner to neaten up. I’ve decided to incorporate everyone’s comments. 1) Using Nippon rememberance for the wall color 2) Using pastel curtains with 3M to cover the ugly door and meter box 3) Making my own night stand from books 4) Getting a big art piece for the side wall 5) Putting a 55 inch TV at the foot of my bed for well, extravagance Some quick questions... 1) what color curtains and table top work best with this shade of grey? For the table top, I might get a fresh piece of wood and laminate myself. 2) what modern frame do you recommend for this wall and this kind of art, or should I drop the frame, and innovate, maybe just get a big piece of plastic and glue the sides? ;) 3) any fun ideas for the TV stand? I don’t want to rent a minivan just to transport the tv stand, and the space between my bed and the planned curtain is tiny - like 45cm. 8 years agoI like the yellow chair, but think it needs to be part of the group. Bring it over to left of sofa. Another chair would be good, If you get the larger rug place the current yellow chair on corner of rug on right of sofa and maybe another on the left. Do you have room for it with the dining set there?

Oh and so sorry....also thought you were talking about adding a bench in your living room, not dining.....my misunderstanding....although I do like the idea of adding pouf(s). :-)
Or, also like your idea of adding ottomans to play double duty as your "coffee table" and for extra seating. Ottoman styles like the ones below offer some storage and "tray" options too (and come in other colors as well).

8 years agoYou've got enough dark gray in there already. Think those square ottomans will just either look chunky or like too matchey-matchey. How about something like this? Cushion is removable for when you want to use the ottoman as more of a serving surface.

8 years agoOkay so coming back to the rug question just wanted to throw it out there for another poll. With 8x10 we will end up putting a lot of part of the rug under the couch. I am not a big carpet type of person like wood and more exposed wood to me rug is another decorative item larger rug will require more maintenance with cleaning and all the dirt it will collect under the couch but at the same time didn't want it to look stupid by putting small rug if it needs big rug. Also 8x10 doubles the price I have paid rightnow and also mainly it will cover the chaise part of the couch that the current rug doesn't. I saw several pics with similar small rugs with chaise couch and thoughts after all if I really should go with larger couch?
