Comments (19)Hi, Could you add a pic of the lounge area outside bedrooms? There seem to be too many palettes of colours within furniture from white tv cabinet to dark brown book shelf to light brown dining to black/blue/beige sitting pieces. Tie up sitting by adding few cushions in possibly black/white/blue combo. Extend sitting area of living through the entire span of AC wall. You need a larger rug for this space. Angle dining table between 30 to 45 degrees with long length between detached counter corner to bookshelf end towards lounge. This will add the flow to lounge. Add a table runner along the centre of the long length. You need larger artwork pics or a collection of art pieces on living room wall behind beige sofa. Lounge can have a console and wall with a composition of family picture frames to personalise space. Remove blue artwork in the last pic. Instead, you can add a composition of wall shelves with artefacts on them or wall hooks with hanging artefacts. Rugs, table lamps, floor lamps and few bold decorative pieces will add the required warmth. Comments (13)Hi Rubypumps. Unfortunately you have made the common mistake of mixing undertones. I see this a lot as a colour consultant. Mistakes with your hard finishes are the worst kind because they are very costly to change. Right now your walls have a pink undertone and your walls behind the tub and counter are clearly blue grey. Since blue is complementary to pink, it brings out the pink in the tile even more and the clean blue makes the tile look dirty. It may be hard for you to see this, but this is what's happening and this is probably why you don't like your bathroom. Since you chose such a busy mosaic, it has become the boss (and focal point) of the room and I would now keep your other finishes as simple as possible. If you can, down the road, change the beige tile. Because unfortunately, there is no magic colour combination that will make it disappear. Working with what you have, I would most likely go with a more neutral cabinet like Uniboard G21 Viva Walnut. It will help warm up the space. Comments (27)You already have your accent colour as your sofa pillows (log roll pillows). I would take one of them shopping with me to get a rug that has that colour in it. It doesn't need to be a lot of that colour (I love the idea of burgandy rug here...but it might be too much with your monotone scheme). Comments (6)I like the industrial feel of the art, Poonam. I've put together a mood board, concentrating on the grungy industrial colours. I think you probably have room for a small sectional, and a few bar stools at the kitchen counter -- probably no more seating than that. I love this round coffee table, and the fact that the 'distressed' rug really does look as though it might have been in a workshop somewhere. :-) I imagine you might be mounting a TV on the left wall as you enter? Nowhere else to put one, really. If you could get a really shallow TV cabinet to put it on that would be good as it could give you a bit of storage in the room. 8 years agoWell, I agree that dark can make the room look smaller, but I have dark cabinets and I have never noticed lint on them. Then again, the only cabinets close to the dryer are wall cabinets. Or perhaps I am a clean freak. ;-)
When asked, I generally recommend a shade of white because it tends to make a laundry room feel brighter and more spacious. Since you have already finished your cabinets, you might consider adding tiles backsplash or wallpaper instead of changing the cabinet paint again. There are a lot of ways to pull the cabinets into an overall design that would look nice.
If you are interested in going for darker cabinets without needing to completely redo them again, you could always glaze them. You would end up with something like this.

8 years agolast modified: 8 years agoSea salt is such a lovely color and would really suit white. You can also add pops of color and don't forget to add wicker baskets. White cabinetry is used in mud rooms and kitchens and not sure how much more dirt would be generated in a laundry room, so I wouldn't make that a major factor in your decision. What you could also do, is paint the walls white and the cabinets blue which has a bit more interest.

8 years agoThanks to everyone. I do not have cabinets at this point. We are going to do full cabinets across from the washer and dryer with pull out laundry baskets and a tower to house 4 wicker type baskets for folded clean laundry. Possibly some above the appliances but they are rather tall but not sure where to put my soaps. Then there will be one next to them with a sink.

8 years agoThese are my final 2 choices. White cabinets were to hard to match the trim so we are going with these 2. Love both of them but going more towards the dark mainly due to a significant price difference. These are medallion cabinets. Dark is a smoke stain and the light is a glaze. Any suggestions? Or any ideas of how or where to get cabinets cheaper? Way over budget and I'm having a hard time pulling the trigger with it being a laundry room.
