Kitchen splashback advice

Hi everyone, am providing a layout of our first home. Pls do suggest regarding kitchen splash Back. As it's an open kitchen l shaped which has splash back also l shaped. Am thinking of green splash back and black cabinets white bench top and island bench top and white tiles all over living area and kitchen. As kitchen is the main thing in hall which everyone can see. Does green glare a lot and just it catch he's every ones eye leaving everything else??

8 years agoThis in one pic which I saw but my hubby is still in dilemma if we can choose green or not ?? Pls do suggest other colours for splash back as a second option. The colour we are getting is fusion green. Thanks

Comments (10)Are you saying that cooking next to the chute would gross you out even if its covered? Andd to use it for its intended purpose? In the first picture, it looks like the stove is directly underneath the chute, but I can see in other pics that it is not. I think it is far enough away. If everything is bagged properly, it shouldn't be that bad. You will have to check on local code regarding having the stove next to the window. Code may make your decision for you. People usually just put shorter cabinets above that type of range hood. I would recommend doing so because you need all the storage you can get. The hood--being different from the bank of cabinets--will provide relief to the eye. With cabinets above, it'll still feel balanced. And, as for covering the chute, do you want to cover it and restrict access or do you still need to use it for its intended purpose and just want to camouflage it? To help the room feel pleasant, cheery, and light, I recommend using a glass tile. Even though it's applied to a wall, the translucency still shows and evokes a sense of the adjectives above. I think it would help keep things light. Consider a slightly higher toe-kick underneath the lower cabinets. It helps to create a lighter-footed feeling. You could also consider cabinets that have furniture style feet. for a more open feeling. Your kitchen seems like an ideal room to use modern, lacquered cabinets. I don't know if you like the super-modern look, but I think it could be nice. Maybe just for the uppers. Use a medium-to-light toned wood on the bottom. A limestone floor might be nice. Master’s with walk-in closet, connected bath with added door (for sharing). kept store at end, open kitchen, Living rm ok to fit a sofa with tv/media cabinet. For dining, I’m seeing to combine your work and dining table. get another similar table to combine with your 1.7 table. (or if budget allows get a long table 1 piece.) dining side you put benches and work side get a high chair. this setting becomes the main feature of your house( my idea only not a rule) the bookshelves be on 1 side and can be longer as needed. hope this brings you more ideas for your new home. cheers! arielc...See Morekitchen cabinet
Comments (2)Hi Sivasankari Suppas, Your designer and you probably have decided what laminates to choose by now as your tiles have been chosen and laid on floor and walls. To go against the grain now would not be advisable as we can clearly see that a solid colour will work now as you have lots of pattern on the wall and floor. We would recommend a solid charcoal colour so it will appear dark (black) but not be solid as we can understand your concern of finger prints and marks when its solid black. 8 years agoBuilder was telling colours should flow and should match. So have a think about look with fusion green splash back. As in the below image u can c tiles splash back matches and cabinet and bench top matches as well with red dots and bench top. I don't prefer this colour cabinets how ever. Just thinking of look and brightness in home as we enter. Pls do provide suggestions. Waiting for ur comments. Thanks

8 years agoPlease do suggest an kitchen splash back colour with kitchen cabinet colours for the below shown 6 colours as these are the colours from which I got to choose my splash back. Seeing all ur comments above I decided not to go with green and acc to ur suggestions black cabinets are also not an option. Pls do suggest me. Thanks
