Help designing possible new kitchen!

I'm looking to find possible designs for renovating my kitchen but stumped on ideas..

As seen below in the picture, the current layout for this wing of the house is the kitchen on the right, an office in the middle, and the master bedroom on the left at the end of the hall. Across the hall from the kitchen is the entrance to the garage.

Sooooo.. Our plan is to tear down the wall between the office and the kitchen to expand the space but having trouble coming up with a design layout that will be functional and attractive. Priorities are counter space and comfortable dining area for ideally 6 but open to any ideas without as well!

All feedback is greatly appreciated!

Need measurements of room but galley style would fit best.

Consider removing the wall between the kitchen and dining area and the hallway.

Hi Few points: 1. It's not an independent residential apartment. It is a flat in a 25storey block 2. I have attached the floor plan for reference. The entrance is not too huge. 3. It's good to know that you guys have liked the Bathroom & kitchen design. The tiling work is in progress and it has come out well. I will take few snaps and post 4. When I say resort look - I understand and mean a simplistic natural looking design. More towards wood, nature, green, matt finish etc... Hope i am not confusing anyone here 5. Do you think the bathroom & kitchen design gels with what I mean by resort look. 6. The foyer area is a small (not too big) entrance. It's like a passage as you can see in the pics I posted earlier. When you enter you don't see the entire living room rather you see the wall (kitchen wall), where we intend to keep our dining table. Some thoughts on designing that wall is also requested Thanks!

Boy, it sure looks like the refrigerator doors open on the wrong side--can you get the developer to swap it out or change the door swing?--must be a mistake. I would find that really annoying, especially in such a small workspace. I really see a movable island parallel to the cabinets in this space with storage underneath and maybe a hanging pot rack with lights and maybe some shelving above, possibly with some stools for casual dining. Do you have room for something like that? A freestanding stainless metal full- or counter-height shelf on casters adjacent to the sink could be really helpful. You could put some simple white dishpans or bins on it as a temporary holding place for dirty dishes while you are cooking, and use the rest for overflow for big pots or pantry items. The L counter with the curved sink might be a little awkward, but sure beats not having some usable counter space. If that is all you are adding, then perhaps a cart with a shelf that flips up for extra prep or dining space would work for you. I would pay the money to get decent lighting. I think I see a thin range hood over the cooktop. If this is European, there should be wiring and a plug for the range hood, so I wouldn't think it would be too expensive to run some wire for lights Doesn't the range hood already have lights. BTW?

Hi Rhonda, i also recently redid my terrace and installed a wet and dry island in my kitchen. As for your floor plan, if you're willing to consider tearing down the maid's room and moving it to the back, it will free up a lot of space for your dry kitchen/dining area. A bit unconventional, but you can also install the island in between the 2 pillars that are in the center. You can then install pot racks or wine glass holders on top of your island. I started with a design dilemma, and got some good advice from some very kind people on Houzz. The transformation took more time to figure out then it did to complete the construction. My advice to anyone wanting a new space is to do your research, without rushing into decisions, which can be difficult when working with some, because of the 'sale deadline'! Guess what? There will always be another sale! In fact, by taking my time I ended up being able to keep all of the organization options I wanted and ended up with such a great sale that I was able to upgrade to custom solid wood cabinets and drawers for the same price as my original stock cabinets with MDF panels. By customizing the sizes of cabinets, I was able to create more space to open up the small kitchen for a spacious feel. My contractor helped me achieve the built in pantry wall which puts all of my spices, canned goods, etc., right in front of me to see exactly what I have or need to replenish. But, my favorite part of this kitchen is what the contractor did with my narrow and deep closet. It was widened and turned into a dry bar with microwave and roll out storage. Having a place for my coffee maker and microwave was key, so I could keep the new expanse of counter space visible! Removing the 'bump up' wall of my original counter offered a more open concept feel, which was a great improvement. Need more information. Was there a kitchen here before? Are you on slab? On a crawlspace, i.e., how easy to move water lines and drains? How is the stove to be vented? Do you want the sink under a window? How big is your family? Are there 6 for every meal or only when company comes? Do you want a couple of seats at an Island as well? Do you want to make room for a table, or built-in banquet?

What is your budget? How big are the rooms? Where is your living room? Where is your dining room? Is there a formal dining room, or is this it? It's kind of an odd floor plan, what else is going on with the rest of the house? Can you also move any windows? What are the heights of the windows? Is there room to put countertop under them?

Do you want a pantry closet or is food storage in cabinets sufficient?

About a million things to figure out.

You may want to talk to whomever will be building or installing your cabinets. They can usually visit and help you work out an ergonomic plan that meets your budget.
