Help with an open plan kitchen, dining and living area...
Comments (19)Hi, Could you add a pic of the lounge area outside bedrooms? There seem to be too many palettes of colours within furniture from white tv cabinet to dark brown book shelf to light brown dining to black/blue/beige sitting pieces. Tie up sitting by adding few cushions in possibly black/white/blue combo. Extend sitting area of living through the entire span of AC wall. You need a larger rug for this space. Angle dining table between 30 to 45 degrees with long length between detached counter corner to bookshelf end towards lounge. This will add the flow to lounge. Add a table runner along the centre of the long length. You need larger artwork pics or a collection of art pieces on living room wall behind beige sofa. Lounge can have a console and wall with a composition of family picture frames to personalise space. Remove blue artwork in the last pic. Instead, you can add a composition of wall shelves with artefacts on them or wall hooks with hanging artefacts. Rugs, table lamps, floor lamps and few bold decorative pieces will add the required warmth. A round centre table in the living room can be good....See MoreWhat is a good furniture layout for this awkward open living room?
Comments (2)Hello Cody, If the TV isn't going on the mantle wall than the only other available wall is the 13'5" wall. You might think about moving the TV to this wall and balancing it with art or plants. Your sofa can be turned with its back to the entrance/stairs and a small console table can be placed behind it to act as a visual stop. Your chair can be placed where the sofa currently sits or you could add a pair of new chairs to this area near the stair alcove which would create a smaller seating cluster there. Small benches could be placed in front of the fire for additional seating, when and if necessary. This one is a challenge, but if you don't mind the TV as focal point and the sofa perpendicular to the fireplace, this could work. Comments (20)work out the wall space you want to cover, measure this on the floor. then start laying out our design within the space on the floor to create your design. There has to be lines running through the collage so there is a method to the madness- we don't want a messy looking arrangement, there must be a flow. You can line up the matts with outside edge of other frames etc. Layout all of your pics on the floor and mix up the frame styles and sizes amongst your layout. Take photos of your layout and then start hanging. My tip is don't start hanging until you have your plan 100% !!! lots of neck stretches too! i recently put together this collage and need a neck massage afterwards ;-)...See MoreAdvice on layout design for living/dining
Comments (6)Thanks for making the time to follow up with my question. I suppose i could have an alternative scheme where the TV is at the bookshelf wall and on the opposite wall to fit a right angle 3+2 seater sofa facing the TV instead. Can i fit in a 1.2m round dining table in that dining space ? There will be custom made fittings e.g. shoe cabinet, tv console, work desk, book/display shelf. May i also check with you on your fees if i do intend to have a fuller drawing plan of the layout and the fittings ? Thank you....See Morecarole
