Need help on Desk Colour!
Comments (5)Hi again. I see where Dytecture is going with this. It's hard to say, really, because the only existing colour you mentioned was white. Once you put something coloured or dark in the space, your eye will zoom past the white and look at the colour or the visual weight of the piece. When I was recommending something white or colourless (glass and metal), I had in mind that you probably don't want to make the desk your only feature. I would recommend having your desk as a functional piece that blends with the decor, but I would definitely add punches of colour elsewhere. Large colourful artworks on the walls, a couple of bold colour-blocked cushions on the sofa (see Dytecture's first picture above), a grouping of three very tall boldly coloured vases (different heights), and so on. These will give you the pizzazz you're looking for. In an otherwise white apartment, a dark or coloured desk is still not going to give you much style or impact....See MoreNeed help for curtain color and rug
Comments (3)Hi, Nitikaa! We used your pillows as a jumping-off point to search our area rugs by the color red (http://www.atgstores.com/area-rugs_610.html?option0=optionA=265687|18968~Valu&page=1) and we found some ideas for you. We posted them below, but would remind you that you can swap out your red throws for something else to counterpoint your black furniture and console with something lighter. Drawing the decor, curtains and rug together by color can be a great way to add depth to your room, which appears to have a contemporary style. We hope this helps and wish you luck!...See MoreIdeas on updating/replacing the veneer trim under kitchen cabinets
Comments (12)I would seriously consider replacing the cabinets before putting a new granite countertop on them. The problem is that no one will remove the countertop at a later date if you want to change the cabinets, due to the possibility of breakage. The only choice you will have then is a reface. Adding new doors, drawer fronts, and veneered sides is just a facelift. You could also add new hardwood drawers with undermount cushion close slides, but by the time you do this if will be the same cost as new cabinets now. The cabinets you have now, frameless, particle board sides are notorious for having the hinge screws strip out the particle board they are attached to. Since you can't put a longer screw in them, because the material is only 3/4" of an inch thick you have a problem. You also can't put a wider screw in them because it won't fit through the pre-drilled holes in the hinges....See MoreCurtain help, what sort of material and colour should I choose ?
Comments (7)What a great room! If you enjoy the general Monochromatic feel of your room I'd go with white or silver (see 'option2' photo) and let your accent pillows do the accenting! The blue hue on the wall actually simplifies your color options. Either pull that color in through a patterned application as mentioned above (see 'option1' photo) or just stick to silver/white.
