Need Help Balancing a Wall Space

Hello, Houzzers.

We have an L-shaped living room/breakfast nook, with a main entry way
directly into the living area, and a fireplace on the long wall which is shared
to the breakfast nook. I am fairly happy with our current furniture lay-out,
however I need to add some balance to the wall with the fireplace.

There is a bookcase on one side of the fireplace, and a desk with computer
on the other, and technically this is all part of the “living” area. I want
to place something on or against the wall behind the desktop computer in order to
balance that space out with the bookcase, but am thinking it shouldn't exceed
the width of the desk, or go over (by much) the height of the bookcase.

I've considered a few things, including a teak wall panel (although this strikes
me as visually "heavy" for this space), or a woven mat.
Frankly, I love an ethnic woven mat which I found locally, just not sure if it's the
right width and continue to look for something similar.

The bookcase is 32" wide. The desk is 40" wide. There is
roughly a 15" difference in height between the top of the book case and
top of the computer monitor. The computer monitor is 22"
wide. The teak panel is 36" wide. If I recall correctly, the woven mat is
26" wide.
Any insight or advice? Happy to receive any and all feedback. Thanks in advance!
