Hello. Im wondering why the grout on the wall tile is not white? Id just like to know if there is a specific reason or if it was the owner's choice

Hello and thank you for your question. This porcelain tile is made to resemble vein-cut travertine and it's beauty is found in it's patterning. To create contrast with white grout would compete with the natural movement pattern of the tiles. Jo Ann @ Total Home Remodeling, Kansas City

If the tile scratched in this location, any paint that you attempted to apply would scratch worse, as well as chip and peel. Ceramic tile is rarely or never painted and I have never heard it attempted on a floor. I wouldn't try it myself for fear of making the situation worse. What about washable, inexpensive cotton rag rugs? They can look very nice and you just throw them in the wash with towels or jeans depending on the color you select. Another inexpensive option would be floating a laminate floor, such as wood look planks.

Cement tile is very popular in my area now. My client is considering it for a bathroom. I am unlikely to recommend epoxy or any other coating. It would change the look and feel too much. I prefer to apply penetrant. I call it that, rather than "sealer," because it does not prevent leaks, or even absorption in porous tile, or grout. It protects calcium based cement and grout from reacting with acid, but it is not perfect and it needs to be reapplied periodically. Wine, salad dressing, lemon, and any tart food would react with cement I am hesitant to recommend cement tile for a bathroom. I am afraid of it as a kitchen floor. Sure it is a knock-out gorgeous material, but will caring for it make some clients wish they hadn't fallen in love? I would like to hear from home owners who have lived with it for a few years. Has anybody lived with it in another Morocco?

Hi Thrishna, looks like you've put quite a lot of effort cleaning it already. Have you already tried the following: • Oxygenated bleach • Warm water • Coarse scrubbing brush (like an old toothbrush) • Towel • Lemon • Grout sealer TIP: Cleaning coloured grout should be done with special care. Bleaching agents (like chlorine bleach) can discolour and harm the coloured grout. Fortunately, oxygenated bleach does not contain corrosive chemicals and is safe to use on all grout. For those impossible-to-remove stains, you might want to consider: A commercial tile and grout cleaner A coarser brush (avoid using metal bristles, though, as they can erode the grout) Grout stain-proof If after you’ve tried all three, the stain is still hanging strong, you may have to resort to removing the old grout and replacing it with new.
