Floor color looks lighter than sample - a lot

we're building and considering putting the Old World Fawn in. The large sample we received looks much darker than all of the photos I'm seeing. Do these photos seem lighter than the actual floor? Thanks for any insight you can offer!

I have the same question. Just looked at the sample and thought it looked very dark as well. Any answer on this?

Hey Tamara,

Something to keep in mind about difference in appearance for samples and pictures/videos is that pictures and videos can vary pretty heavily in color/appearance based on individual graphics displays used. Samples are generally a better representation of the floor's actual appearance! I opened my earlier post to edit the paint name in case you ever want to paint non-tufted, no-nap fabric. Unfortunately, my cat Linguine loves the binging and bonging sounds of the computer when he stands on the keyboard. Not helpful. It disappeared so... here is the name: Simply Spray Fabric Paint for Upholstery. (They have your charcoal gray) It did not make the fabric crunchy, stiff or weird. Nobody wants crunchy, stiff, or weird :-) Again, I would not paint the fabric on your gorgeous bed but I would change the wood color. The black edge and empty white room are the reasons it looks heavy. If you paint the black, I would suggest using an artist brush on the edge that meets the fabric even with fabric covered. House or painter's brushes are too wide for good control in that tight space. They are not as flexible as artists brushes nor as small. The Paris bed I mentioned was gray velvet and soft matte metallic gold wood. Soft, romantic, dreamy and transporting to a world of Princesses and Kings. If you keep the purple, I vote for gold or silver wood but NOT high gloss.

I have stained concrete floors and not only do I love them... but 95% of everyone that walks in the door goes goo goo over them... Well, there was that one guest that waited a half hour before asking "So, when you do you think you'll be able to afford carpet?" .... So, this isn't a great pic, but you can see that we mixed black in and that there's a greenish border... Looking back, I would have done a different color had I given it more thought because it's a lot of work to change stained concrete... but painted concrete can be painted over and over... By the way...The lower level of my house is 1500 sq ft and I vacuum those concrete floors, all of them, in less than 15 minutes... I was 2 x's a year and including stripping the old wax, it only takes me about three hours! This shine when it's done is SO worth the 3 hours ...

Thanks for your comments, its great to discuss with houzers! You are so right @decoenthusiaste the view is beautiful and one reason why I chose the apartment. the room is longer than it is wide, and I wanted the kitchen/bar to be included in the seating so the attached pic is how I was planning to lay it out. @cdrdesign I can't/change the table, its a gorgeous mahogany piece I had custom made and one I see keeping for some years yet! I dont plan a TV in this room, will put it in another room. This room in for living and entertaining guests. Sorry I dont have layout software, so you will have to make do with my scribbles using powerpoint! Could really do with help on choosing the light fitting in place of the central fan- what would look nice here or should I wait till the furniture gets here to choose the light to match?

Cement tile is very popular in my area now. My client is considering it for a bathroom. I am unlikely to recommend epoxy or any other coating. It would change the look and feel too much. I prefer to apply penetrant. I call it that, rather than "sealer," because it does not prevent leaks, or even absorption in porous tile, or grout. It protects calcium based cement and grout from reacting with acid, but it is not perfect and it needs to be reapplied periodically. Wine, salad dressing, lemon, and any tart food would react with cement I am hesitant to recommend cement tile for a bathroom. I am afraid of it as a kitchen floor. Sure it is a knock-out gorgeous material, but will caring for it make some clients wish they hadn't fallen in love? I would like to hear from home owners who have lived with it for a few years. Has anybody lived with it in another Morocco?

Thanks for the reply (perhaps you don't check this site often?), we ended up installing the floors. I'm a little disappointed because I thought they would be more resilient, this is what were told, to dog paw/scratches. They're not and we have several, small scratches after only a year. I also purchased the Provenza floor care kit and was surprised at how expensive it is. Our installer told us we could also use a product called Osmo. Can you tell me the best way to fix scratches and whether we can use the Oslo product? It's considerably less expensive. Thank you!

Sorry to hear that you're not fully satisfied with your floor. It's hard to give a definitive response on what to do without seeing exactly the kind of scratches you're describing. If they're minor surface scratches, cleaning with our natural cleaner then following up with spot remover and spot rejuvenating oil should do the trick! To prevent future scratches, we always recommend that you keep pet's nails trimmed and filed. As for Osmo's cleaning products, we'd need to see the specific product you're referring to (Osmo has quite a few). Hopefully that helped put you in the right direction but if you need anything else, feel free to reach out to us!
