The floor looks like it's hardwood. Is it hardwood? If so, what type and brand? If it's not hardwood, what is it?

The floor in that kitchen is a natural maple finished to match the floors in that 1894 house.

Go with the leather that is a shade lighter that the floors. Otherwise it could get lost in blur of grey. Use accent colors in the lamp shades,wall art and throws. I also like the white table better. The metal table is more industrial. Than the style you are going for.

Marble are non-porous thus it would cause etching and corrosion. Besides that, marble are high maintenance materials. Marble requires proper care and maintenance. Acid should never be used on marble as it shall loose its shine. Marble should be regularly polished over a period of time to give it a new look. If proper precautions are not taken the marble becomes yellowish in colour. Italian marble is usually very soft and prone to cracks. Proper resins have to be used to make the surface strong and solid and avoid further cracks. Proper sealants should be used in marble flooring as the marble is highly porous and prone to staining. It absorbs stains very quickly especially kitchen stains hence are not appropriate for kitchen counter tops. Quartz would be a better choice as quartz are non porous. You already have your accent colour as your sofa pillows (log roll pillows). I would take one of them shopping with me to get a rug that has that colour in it. It doesn't need to be a lot of that colour (I love the idea of burgandy rug here...but it might be too much with your monotone scheme). You can find a large rug that incorporates that red/raspberry in it so that you have a colour that is now your accent.

Hi Amuro Elaine, Are you working with an interior designer to renovate your home? You'll probably be asked a few questions such as: How many people will live here? Is the bedroom wall a structural, load-bearing wall? Do you intend to entertain? But what an interesting space you have, and especially if you are living alone, there's so much potential to transforming it into your own pretty pad! If I were you, I would swap the living space with the bedroom, that means hacking the bedroom wall open, and then erecting a wall from that point where your kitchen wall ends. Have the wall in glass, with sliding glass doors, so that you can open it up when you have guests over.
