Exterior help! Looking to improve the exterior of home (porch, etc)

Hello! My fiance and I just bought this fixer upper and I am looking for some advice as to how we can increase the curb appeal! We have some ideas, but within a budget of $2000 (we plan to do most work ourselves), what are your ideas? Thanks!!

Comments (28)Hi Few points: 1. It's not an independent residential apartment. It is a flat in a 25storey block 2. I have attached the floor plan for reference. The entrance is not too huge. 3. It's good to know that you guys have liked the Bathroom & kitchen design. The tiling work is in progress and it has come out well. I will take few snaps and post 4. Comments (5)I agree with Carolyn - a new coat of paint can make a world of difference. There's really not too much about the house that 'screams' a certain decade - so you're luckier than lots of us. I hate that teracotta colour on the gable ends personally, and I think that would be good to paint out. I would consider painting al the bits that are currently white a darker more serious colour (grey, taupe etc) and then paint the trim and the entry ceiling white. Also consider painting the roof - as it is a big element and teracotta tile colour doesn't always work with your colour scheme. If you want to make some more permanent changes, you could consider filling in the gable roof lines so they become box gables - and I agree with Carolyn that the entrance roof looks like it is missing a column on the left side....See MoreSingaporean Houzzer? Comments (19)I very much agree with what Beverly said regarding adding shutters to your home. You don't have the space on either side of the windows to accommodate appropriately sized shutters. Awnings would definitely be an option. Since you're in the Caribbean, you can add color by using a brightly striped awning. One shutter option that you could consider would be a Bahama Shutter. Since they mount at the top of the windows, you wouldn't have any problem adding them if you like....See More

6 years agoNew railings? That is an awful lot of green on that porch, what do you think about this railing? This house is obviously a good bit bigger, but the railings will fit on any house!

6 years agoI would remove the deck and make a proper set of stairs coming straight off the front door, proportionate to the overhang, with a curved walk to the driveway. Paint all the trim white. No shutters, they do not belong on picture windows. Then proper landscaping around new stairs.
