CAESAR STONE
Comments (6)Caesarstone is a similar product to Corian. It is an acrylic based product...so it's plastic. For counter tops and showers it can be great. For flooring, unless they came out with a new product and I didn't notice, too slick. Benefits are that it is a repairable surface, unlike Formica, that it is seamless, once glued up and finished, it can be stacked to do undermount sinks and farmhouse style sinks and comes in big sheets so doing a surround is easier. Downside? It scratches and can burn or scorch if a hoy pan is set on it, some solvents affect it, make lying it, some people insist on using it for a cutting board (even though it contains minerals for its color). But those usually can be fixed...it is repairable. It is not cheap. Some standard granites are comparable in price. Comments (13)Hi Rubypumps. Unfortunately you have made the common mistake of mixing undertones. I see this a lot as a colour consultant. Mistakes with your hard finishes are the worst kind because they are very costly to change. Right now your walls have a pink undertone and your walls behind the tub and counter are clearly blue grey. Since blue is complementary to pink, it brings out the pink in the tile even more and the clean blue makes the tile look dirty. It may be hard for you to see this, but this is what's happening and this is probably why you don't like your bathroom. Since you chose such a busy mosaic, it has become the boss (and focal point) of the room and I would now keep your other finishes as simple as possible. If you can, down the road, change the beige tile. Because unfortunately, there is no magic colour combination that will make it disappear. Working with what you have, I would most likely go with a more neutral cabinet like Uniboard G21 Viva Walnut. It will help warm up the space. Black is too stark for this bathroom....See Morewood flooring for small bedroom - long straight planks or small herrin
Comments (5)Herring bone is beautiful but expensive to install. Teak is a little darker than oak so if the room is small then you will want to work with the lightest wood = oak. Oil finish will offer low gloss with a beautiful silky/velvety appearance that keeps the wood looking very natural. Easy to repair by the homeowner if scratches occur. Low traffic areas (like bedrooms) can have finish reapplied every few years...depending on wear. A low gloss polyurethane will do the same thing...but some people complain of "foot prints" being visible on the matte poly finish. Turns out the oils from the skin/socks is shinier than the matte finish = foot prints....See MoreStaining Ceiling/Doorframes/Windowframes Darker
Comments (1)To do it right, the finish will need to be removed, the color changed, and then the finish put on. Cost wise, I suspect you would be better off replacing all the wood rather than refinishing all the wood. Varnish is a painted on finish that will scrape off if a door is kicked or where wood is touched a lot. I suggest you embrace the home, it's really beautiful....See MoreJuliet Docherty
