I have to say that well made Roman Shades are not cheap, they are the higher end of the market. Secondly the thing to consider is that they are an all or nothing product, they are either open or closed. What part of the country do you live in? What direction do the windows face, and how often are those doors used? Drapery that can not be moved completely out of the way will get caught in the doors all the time, so while I hate taking out a window for any reason, removing it might make sense as it seems rather redundant. Don't do any type of venetian if this door is used a lot, and if you do, make sure you do an outside mount, allowing for the stack to go above the frame of the doors when they are open. I suggest that you look into Hunter Douglas Polysatin Shutters, they are great on french doors, and the Hunter Douglas Duette Architella Vertiglide is perfect on doors, they also come as a duo light, meaning you can put two blinds into one product - so a sheer and an opaque or semi-opaque product. Just some thoughts to consider.

Hi Lucie, Cork flooring is an excellent product for any interior. A "down stairs" area (when speaking of cork) is a "floating floor" installation. Cork/rubber combinations are all the rage at this time because of the durability/cushion. I also know the price is SIGNIFICANT when working with rubber or rubber/cork combinations. For the price of a rubber floor, you can choose a high end solid hardwood. The drawback to rubber = smell/off gassing. Even a revulcanized rubber (they burn it again to get rid of more of the smell) can still leave an unpleasant odour for quite a long time. When rubber is in direct sunlight or heat is added, the smell returns. Rubber will deteriorate in direct sunlight = crumbling. Cork will simply "fade" but not crumble. In a place like Tahoe where nature is revered, a cork floor would be a better compliment to the surroundings. Rubber can be more modern/industrial looking. Cork floating floors can go everywhere except a bathroom. This is where the glue down cork tiles come into play. Cork floating flooring can start as low as $2.29/sf and range into the $15 per square foot range (depending on the dealer). At icorkfloor.com the highest priced cork floor is the printed cork at $4.59/sf...the rest are below $4/sf. Rubber underlay starts at $4/sf and the flooring doubles that price and then ranges much higher. I would find out about VOC testing for the rubber products you are looking to use. If you or your family have any sensitivities (asthma, COPD, migraines, etc), rubber may not be an option.

I would definitely consider an off white colour as this will be a safe, and probably more attractive option with the colours your stated on your bed. However the sheen may not go well with the green and white laminate, if the chandelier go well with the decor of the room then I think going for a sheen finish could easily finish off the room! However if not it could really make your room have two contrasting style schemes. Off white would also look good, but if you like a bit a glam, then a sheen finish is a fantastic option! What other stuff do you have in your room? Is it possible to upload a picture as many 'minds' can make light work lol. We cannot really comment on adding things to brighten it up but I am sure there are designers on Houzz that can help. :)
