4 or 6 Frame grouping??

I am trying to figure out which type of picture frame grouping should go in each cubby. I asked both of my daughters one set 6 the other said for I need your help please

I think that you will have picture overload on the shelves. I would suggest only one or two frames on a couple of the shelves. I would not put pictures on every shelf. I would take the leftovers and enlarge a few to make a gallery wall. I think with your current setup it will look like you lined the back of the bookcase with a photo collage, similar to wallpaper on the back.

Thanks. right now they are leaning against the back of the shelving unit to hold them up. They will be at different angles. This is only place for family (kids photos). No wall for pic collage

First thing you need to understand is the scope of the project and what your abilities and experience will cover. Do you have any experience managing a construction project? Have you ever scheduled a construction project? Have you drawn up a trades (i.e. framing, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, etc., etc..) contract? Have you ever dealt with the permitting office in pulling permits? Have you ever inspected any construction for quality and compliance to the design documents? Have you ever dealt with inspections or construction deficiencies and had to resolve them with the sub-contractors? If you can't answer yes to all these questions, then you're venturing into a field you know little or nothing about. Any mistakes or stumbles you make in your learning curve are most likely going to be costly in both time and your budget. There are some projects that are DIY level.......there are some that would best be left to those of us already having the background and experience. Let me give you an example. I have an oak tree beside the house I'm renovating. It sits about 12' from the end of the house and has at least a 30' radius drip line which means it extends out over the roof of the house. Having spent a number of years of my young life on a ranch and farm, I know how to drop trees. I know how to operate a chain saw safely without loosing a limb or making a quick trip to the ER. From years in the construction / design field, I know how to operate a high lift ......... but even I know that the task of removing this tree is beyond my level in spite of my willingness and wish to save the $3500 I've been quoted. There are some things best left to the pros. Besides, If I drop a 14" diameter limb on the roof, I would never hear the end of it from my wife. Based solely on the questions you asked, I would highly recommend that you hire an Architect to help you with the design and your budget. Then I would find a well recommended GC to do the job......I'm betting you'll make the most of your limited budget going this route.

Hi Few points: 1. It's not an independent residential apartment. It is a flat in a 25storey block 2. I have attached the floor plan for reference. The entrance is not too huge. 3. It's good to know that you guys have liked the Bathroom & kitchen design. The tiling work is in progress and it has come out well. I will take few snaps and post 4. When I say resort look - I understand and mean a simplistic natural looking design. More towards wood, nature, green, matt finish etc... Hope i am not confusing anyone here 5. Do you think the bathroom & kitchen design gels with what I mean by resort look. 6. The foyer area is a small (not too big) entrance. It's like a passage as you can see in the pics I posted earlier. When you enter you don't see the entire living room rather you see the wall (kitchen wall), where we intend to keep our dining table. Some thoughts on designing that wall is also requested Thanks!

some kids spend the most time in their rooms (reading, playing, talking with friends), and other kids are mostly somewhere else (sports, friends' houses, etc). so i would split the room up and down - with one child in a loft bed or high bunk, who is only in the room to sleep and maybe do homework. the other child would sleep in a regular bed, so they could spread out on the bed & floor with their items and friends. i like the horizontal stripe that is made by the closet doors - why not continue that all around the room? use their favorite colors, as long as the colors are not "too feminine" or too dark for the room.

I agree. you need to do fewer frames and combine frames with other decorative elements.

What you could do to keep each from being overcrowded is bring out different framed photos at different times of the year.

That's what I do. I switch around for Christmas birthdays holidays Etc. That way we get to look at our children's pictures and family pictures around each holiday. For me it freshens up the look.
