Hi, can you please tell me the name & colour of the vinyl flooring used in the upstairs parents retreat? Is it gluedown or looselay? Thanks

The colour of this vinyl flooring is Vintage Cambridge Oak and is a loose lay.

The leakage could be coming from the concrete or cement screed below the parquet floor. Normally, some contractors use non water-tight sealant to seal the parquet, and moisture can seep in from the spaces below and result in water/moisture damage to your flooring. Look up Forbo Flooring. I think it comes out of Europe. Its a product with " green " credentials and whilst it is used extensively in hospitals and industrial centres it is extremely strong and hard wearing. I think with other good strong design elements in a room a vinyl floor can easily be pulled off as dynamic and urban. Used a lot in say Denmark and Sweden for example with product longevity in mind & positive if you are also environmentally conscious. I am currently looking at Forbo vinyl to be laid in our sunroom, utility room, pantry and entrance way as it is practical, easy to clean and with a great colour can provide a lot of impact. And whilst it can be hard to walk on & can be viewed sometimes as cold visually I think a rug/rugs can remedy this in the colder months. Vinyl & cork went out of fashion a couple of decades ago and they are now popular again for good reason. I hope this gives you confidence in your current ID :)

Thanks Sugarbakers, I wanted to know if anyone has experience doing such a job or can recommend someone who has done it for them. Also wanted to find if there was more than one way to achieve the same look - e.g. vinyl tiles, laminates, tiles etc - and their application in both outdoor and indoor areas and the cost per sq ft for the different options. I'm considering installing this on approx 2000+ sq ft ceiling area including outdoor areas. Thanks again for your earlier reply.

Hi Miaw, ok your plan looking good. some comments. 1. would you consider a smaller foyer. some suspense at entry before the wow moment 2. island can be bigger where you can put your sink and some stools. 3. I think some walls not necessary to make it feel more space 4. that store room blocking the window, would you like to open this to bring more natural light, fresher by cross ventilation air moving from one window and out to other. 5. the common bathroom is outside at wet kitchen really? Anyway I think that open kitchen would be fabulous with some rich stone finish !
