Good morning. These are not windows. They are screens. Either Phantom screens or screeneze. We are using a window system by a company called Sunspace, and have begun to write a series of articles on this product. Hi Few points: 1. It's not an independent residential apartment. It is a flat in a 25storey block 2. I have attached the floor plan for reference. The entrance is not too huge. 3. It's good to know that you guys have liked the Bathroom & kitchen design. The tiling work is in progress and it has come out well. I will take few snaps and post 4. When I say resort look - I understand and mean a simplistic natural looking design. More towards wood, nature, green, matt finish etc... Hope i am not confusing anyone here 5. Do you think the bathroom & kitchen design gels with what I mean by resort look. 6. The foyer area is a small (not too big) entrance. It's like a passage as you can see in the pics I posted earlier. When you enter you don't see the entire living room rather you see the wall (kitchen wall), where we intend to keep our dining table. Some thoughts on designing that wall is also requested Thanks!

I agree with Carolyn - a new coat of paint can make a world of difference. There's really not too much about the house that 'screams' a certain decade - so you're luckier than lots of us. I hate that teracotta colour on the gable ends personally, and I think that would be good to paint out. I would consider painting al the bits that are currently white a darker more serious colour (grey, taupe etc) and then paint the trim and the entry ceiling white. Also consider painting the roof - as it is a big element and teracotta tile colour doesn't always work with your colour scheme. If you want to make some more permanent changes, you could consider filling in the gable roof lines so they become box gables - and I agree with Carolyn that the entrance roof looks like it is missing a column on the left side.

Just thought I'd share these three pictures which I found inspiring and I want for my own home: The first was taken in the Elizabeth Bay House. I just love the colour of the wall, which goes so well with the elegance of the wooden cabinet. Some antiques on top of the cabinet completes the picture. The second is a well-preserved, late 1800s arts-and-crafts era house that is just pleasant in its simplicity and well-kempt-ness. These houses can be found in many suburbs in Sydney, especially in the Mosman, NSW area. ("To be simple is the end, not the beginning of design." — Charles Voysey) The third is the front porch of a house in the Newtown area, which makes use of eclectic art-nouveau era, antique lead-fired tiles in between the steps. These tiles are no longer produced, are very radiant and colourful when seen up close. They have also been used as splash tiles. Most of these were made in England or Belgium, but Japan was also a big producer of these in the late 19th- early 20th century as well. Hope everyone's having an awesome weekend!

I very much agree with what Beverly said regarding adding shutters to your home. You don't have the space on either side of the windows to accommodate appropriately sized shutters. Awnings would definitely be an option. Since you're in the Caribbean, you can add color by using a brightly striped awning. One shutter option that you could consider would be a Bahama Shutter. Since they mount at the top of the windows, you wouldn't have any problem adding them if you like.

Just took a look. How does this Sunspace product compare to Ezebreeze? I can't tell---are the windows replaceable with screens (i.e., screens in spring and summer, windows in fall and winter)?
